Kusuo didn't move in for the kill immediately. He still wanted to extract information from him. The Mysterious Peacock Method was a ninjutsu he had to obtain from the Star Village. Even without the "Star's" enhancement, he believed that with their skills, they could rebuild their village in no time.
The Hoshikage looked at Kusuo in disbelief. "I can't believe someone like you would dare to try and take the 'Star' from me." He clenched his fist and looked down at the "Star" on his chest. Kusuo wasn't the first person to try and take it. The others who had come before had all been killed by him.
"I don't believe you can defeat so many of us by yourself."
Kusuo glanced back and saw Natsuhi and her followers locked in a struggle with a group of soldiers. The puppet soldiers were, to some extent, stronger than them. "Looks like it's a fight to the death," Natsuhi and the others thought, gripping their shuriken tightly.
"Mysterious Peacock Method! Ultimate Form!"
"Power of the Peacock!"
Natsuhi's body was instantly covered in chakra. But even so, the Hoshikage showed no fear. The "Star" embedded in his chest was glowing with an eerie light. An enhanced Peacock Method was unleashed. Even with everyone combined, Kusuo had never seen such a powerful version of the technique before, yet the Hoshikage was using it all by himself.
Kusuo finally understood why Natsuhi was so opposed to training with the "Star." Through his Transparent World, he could see that the chakra flow in the Hoshikage's body was running rampant, and many of his chakra pathways were beginning to rupture. Kusuo had only ever seen such a condition in Might Guy when he had opened the Eight Gates.
As his power surged, the puppets he controlled also began to unleash their own chakra, attacking Natsuhi's group in coordination with him. Natsuhi immediately used a defensive jutsu, but against so many attacks, her Peacock Method seemed insignificant.
Kusuo drew his blade and instantly appeared in the fray. "Sun Breathing." Countless sword slashes flew out, averaging a thousand cuts per second. A defensive wall formed from the slashes appeared around Natsuhi and her group.
At that moment, Natsuhi finally understood why Kusuo had been so fearless before. With his level of skill, he had no reason to worry about the Hoshikage. "Lord Hatake Kusuo..." she said in awe. "With this kind of power, even the Five Kage combined might not be his match." She quietly swallowed.
However, the Hoshikage before him did not share her sentiment. He was now covered in a cold sweat. After learning the puppet jutsu from Orochimaru, he had never felt such fear. The "Star" had always been his source of support, but his immense power had just been severed by a single one of Kusuo's slashes.
"How can someone so terrifying exist?" This was the first time the Hoshikage had felt fear. Everything he had relied on had been cut down by Kusuo. All the chakra threads connecting him to the others had been severed. Although he had tried to reconnect them, his chakra threads couldn't keep up with the speed of Kusuo's blade.
"He cut them all in one go?" The previously controlled puppets were now completely back to normal. Natsuhi also looked at Kusuo, dumbfounded. What had seemed like a hopeless situation after the Hoshikage implanted the "Star" had been completely reversed.
"No, not yet," Kusuo said, his expression grim as he looked at the Hoshikage.
Sure enough, a strong purple light burst from the Hoshikage's chest. He reached out and tore another piece from the "Star." With a grunt, he implanted an even larger fragment into his body.
BOOM... A powerful chakra shockwave erupted. The Hoshikage's body was now burning with a purple-black chakra.
"This is the power of the Ten-Tails?" Kusuo watched in shock. But he also knew the consequences of using such power. Even an ordinary jinchuriki couldn't withstand such immense chakra, yet the Hoshikage dared to use such a technique. The wounds that Kusuo had previously inflicted were now healing at a rate visible to the naked eye.
