Ezra's POV
I grabbed the glass and gulped it down in one go. When I placed the glass back, I met their eyes—both of them were staring at me.
"So, you both didn't find anything?" I asked, still holding on to the hope that they had uncovered some clues. "Care to tell me, Vlad, why did you lie?"
Vlad's gaze remained steady. He scratched his head with one hand and placed the other gently on mine.
"When did I lie?" he said calmly. "We really did find some clues."
"Then tell me, what are those?" I pressed. Again, they exchanged glances. Now I was sure—they were hiding something.
Sylven looked down, avoiding my gaze. Both of them were on their knees. It was an elegant pose in our world, but who knew if they were doing it out of guilt?
"Actually," Sylven finally spoke, his eyes meeting mine. "We followed that man in the cloak and found his warehouse."
The corners of my eyes crinkled—it was indeed good news. Without a second thought, I rested both hands on their shoulders.
