Chapter 1 - 1 — Sold At 50 Billion?!

Adrian felt shivers run down his spine as he was forced to kneel on the cold ground. The brown-haired young man wore nothing but a thin black shirt and pants, barely enough to cover his body.

Bound by ropes and chains, he couldn't move an inch. His head felt heavy and fuzzy, his vision blurry as he tried to make sense of his situation.

Although faint, he heard a man speak.

"Who is willing to buy him? He has pretty brown hair, and fair skin, and, above all, he is a dominant omega! He is worth millions! We will start bidding from ten million," the man exclaimed.

Omegas were special—giving birth to an heir for most households—in a world filled with betas and one third of the population that contained alphas. And dominant omegas were even more rare. They merely needed to spend a few months with an alpha—even without a rut and heat cycle syncing, they could get pregnant.

Adrian blinked rapidly, clearing his vision, and glanced up.

A man he had never met before, dressed in a black suit, holding a mic, stood beside him. The man's eyes gleamed with greed as he looked in front of him, making Adrian wonder what sat at the front to make his gaze glimmer so brightly.

Who's this?

Adrian wondered.

"11 million!" a voice shouted from the front.

Adrian quickly shifted his gaze to the crowd before him—a sea of masked individuals seated in rows, their piercing gazes fixed on him as if they would devour him at any moment.

"35 million!" a woman raised her bidding number.

"1 billion," a man said, raising his bidding board to number 199.

Adrian's eyes widened at the realization of what was happening.

He was being sold off!

As he tried to speak, his throat burned, each contraction causing him to groan in pain.

Did they drug me?

The young man wondered, his green eyes glimmering with rage.

How dare they! I told them I would pay them back!

As Adrian watched the people shouting numbers to determine his worth, his gaze fell on the group of men to whom he owed money. He hadn't expected them to witness his sale.

"Ah, they're probably here to claim their share from selling me," Adrian scoffed.

"I bid at 15 billion," echoed a woman's voice.

"50 billion!" Holding the number 299 on a board, a man spat the number as if he knew no one could challenge him.

The man was dressed in a dark suit, immaculately tailored. His hair was neatly combed, forming a sleek crest atop his head, while his brown eyes remained fixed on the stage, devoid of any hint of excitement despite his significant bid for the person on offer. Half of his face was concealed behind a dark mask, revealing only his nose down to his jawline.

The mystifying figure cast a mysterious aura that enveloped everyone in the hall, leaving Adrian surprised.

As the bid reached 50 billion, a wave of hushed silence swept through the auction hall, with no further offers daring to challenge the large sum.

While the young man on the stage undoubtedly held value, even he couldn't expect a price tag higher than 50 billion. It was the highest number he heard of during his whole career. No one paid such a large amount even for 'fairies' or mermaids.

The auctioneer's voice rose with excitement, his eyes twinkling at the mention of such a large amount.

"Any further bids? Going once at 50 billion, going twice at 50 billion, going thrice... Sold! Number 299, please proceed to settle the payment and claim your purchase at the back side," the man grinned.

Before he realized it, Adrian was abruptly dragged away from the stage by a few men. He tried to hold back his groaning sounds due to the pain.

The humiliation bit under his skin like wild bees. He was a royal blood—a member of the Valdor household!

The dazzling brightness of the sun, a contrast to the dimly lighted interior in which Adrian had been to previously, blinded his vision. He was kept knelt to the ground while two men stood beside him, keeping guard.

It's not like I can run away under these circumstances…

He sighed. His body had been weakened by drugs.

The masked man with the number 299 arrived at the back side shortly after.

A worker settled the payment and handed over the keys to Adrian's chained feet before pushing the brown-haired young man further toward the dark-haired man whose face Adrian couldn't see.

"Is it some old pervert?" Adrian wondered.

"You're the one who brought me, right?" He asked, looking up at the man who stood before him.

The man shook his head, not uttering a word, and untied the ropes. However, he kept the keys in his pocket.

Adrian was puzzled by the man's response. He was certain that the man had been the one to shout the unimaginable sum to buy him.

Was he acting on someone else's orders?

Adrian sighed, his confusion deepening. He realized that the person who had brought him must have been an old man or woman who couldn't even attend the auction.

But how could the man in front of him make such a purchase without his master's approval? Surely the individual who brought Adrian hadn't even seen him.

Maybe that person gave their subordinate some criteria to follow.

A few muscular men dressed in black suits walked towards Adrian and threw him inside a wooden carriage as if he were a light feather.

Two men sat beside him as if they wanted to ensure Adrian couldn't escape.

Their behaviour made the young man scoff. They were treating him as if he was a runaway. But they didn't know that Adrian was ready to face everything thrown at him with a head-on!

If needed, he would escape at the cost of other people's lives but he refused to be abused by some old pervert.

Although, deep down, he hoped for the person who brought him to be a nice person, he couldn't let his hopes get a better hold of him.

After all, who would buy a living human from an auction at the cost of 50 billion?!

The young man clenched his fist, nervousness overwhelming his body. His stomach turned when horrible thoughts crossed his mind.

In a dark setting, Adrian huffed, his body burning in fever.

"Did you do this?" He asked the manly figure who stood before him, his voice creaking with each other that he uttered.

"Oh! Yes. So what?" A manly voice echoed in Adrian's mind.

"Wake up."

Adrian's eyes blinked open as soon as he felt someone shaking him. He quickly looked around, to get a grasp of his situation.

It seemed like he had arrived at his 'owner's' house.

The young man chuckled at his own thoughts.

Owner? Hell no. No one in this world was born to own me! I will escape as soon as this drug effect wears off.

Adrian told himself, stumbling with each step he took toward the house.
