"How has it been serving these past few days?" I directed a question to the Luna, a small smile playing on my lips.
"Oh you know, I'm sure it's been a big adjustment with my husband naming my sons the new Alphas of the pack..."
She paused to beam at her sons but her smile slipped a little when her gaze fell on Xerxes's empty chair.
"...But I'm sure they add not the only ones adjusting," she continued. "You must be too, dear."
"Oh yes, Luna," I said, fixing a smile on my face and trying to look pleased. "You are right. It has been a big change, but everyone has been so nice and helpful... I have nothing to complain about."
"That's good then," Alpha Kai said from his position at the head of the table. "I am sure you are already fitting into the role of Luna perfectly."
I laughed and told him I would of course do my best, but inside I was seething.
