Chapter 3 - 3

After inspecting the space and planning for the future, she left the space.

Yaelle silently thought of leaving, and suddenly the scene brightened. She found herself back on the bed from before.

As she struggled to get up and put on her shoes, she made some noise. Two handsome young boys entered. They were her personal attendants, Attendant Sean and Attendant Sam, both seventeen years old.

They were bought by her parents as her attendants when they were seven. After ten years of serving her, they had developed a very close relationship.

Why not maids? Because in this world, women were very rare, and selling women into slavery was forbidden. Only boys served women.

These male attendants were given medicine from a young age to make sure they could not have children.

Rich families also hired female servants. These girls usually came from poor families hoping to improve their lives by marrying into wealth. The masters also benefited by forming close ties with noble families through these girls.

"Miss, you're finally awake!" Attendant Sean and Attendant Sam said with joy as they quickly helped her up.

"How long have I slept?" Yaelle felt dizzy still.

"One full day and night. Since we rescued you from the pond, you have been unconscious. We were very worried," Attendant Sean said.

Yaelle sighed silently. This body was really weak, and medical conditions were poor. She had just fallen into water and caught a fever, yet nearly died.

"I'm fine now, no need to worry. By the way, where is my brother?" Yaelle asked, thinking of her half-brother.

"The young master saw you still weren't awake in the afternoon, so he took Zack to the Xu family pharmacy to call a doctor. Their young master was trained by a divine doctor and has great medical skills. The divine doctor is rare and hard to meet. We heard Young Master Xavier has been at the shop recently, so the young master went to ask him for help, but he hasn't come yet," Attendant Sam explained.

"Miss, are you hungry? I'll bring you something to eat," Attendant Sam asked.

"Yes, I'm a bit hungry." Yaelle nodded as her stomach gave a timely growl.

Attendant Sean helped Yaelle sit up against the headboard while Attendant Sam quickly went out.

Soon, he came back carrying a bowl of steaming hot porridge.

"Miss, have some porridge first to fill your stomach. The kitchen is preparing other food and will bring it soon," Attendant Sam said, placing the bowl on the small table beside the bed. He gently blew on the porridge and brought it to Yaelle's lips.

Yaelle was indeed hungry. She opened her mouth and drank the porridge in small sips. Attendant Sean stood beside her, his eyes full of worry.

"Miss, you must have been frightened after falling into the water. Please rest for now. Young Master invited Young Master Xavier, you will surely recover soon," Attendant Sean said to comfort her.

Yaelle nodded. She also hoped that this young master from the Xu family could heal her. After all, it was not easy for her to survive once, and she did not want to die again so soon.

About half an hour later, Attendant Sean came in and said, "Miss, Young Master is back and brought Young Master Xavier."

Yaelle said happily, "Quick, invite them in."

She sat on the bed and looked out the door, seeing two handsome men with different styles walking in.

The taller man wore a moon-white robe. The fabric was elegant and had a faint glow, as if bathed in moonlight. His hair was fixed with a jade hairpin of the same color, simple yet elegant.

He looked like a figure from a painting, graceful and refined. His face was handsome, with sharp brows and bright eyes. A faint smile lingered on his lips, giving off a gentle and noble aura.

Such presence would stand out no matter where he was. This was her older half-brother, Michael. Not far behind him was another man in a blue robe.

He was slightly shorter, around 180 centimeters. He had a baby face that looked young and cute, making people feel close to him. But behind that innocent look was a deep and mysterious nature.

Especially when he smiled, two deep dimples appeared. They made him look even more charming. It was easy for him to draw people in with just a smile.

Michael showed concern and walked forward. "Yaelle, are you feeling better? I brought Young Master Xavier to take a look at you."

"I feel much better, just a bit dizzy," Yaelle answered quickly. "Thank you, Young Master Xavier."

Young Master Xavier was momentarily stunned but quickly responded. He walked to the bed, bowed slightly, then placed his fingers on Yaelle's wrist. He closed his eyes and quietly felt her pulse.

After a while, he opened his eyes and smiled. "Miss, there is no major problem. You just need a few days of rest to fully recover."

"You caught a chill after falling into the water. In the future, your monthly cycle might be a bit more uncomfortable."

Michael sighed in relief. "Thank you, Young Master Xavier."

"Young Master Michael, you are too polite," Young Master Xavier replied. He took out a bottle of pills from his medicine box. "These are my special energy pills. Take one daily to help restore your strength."

"I will also write a prescription. Boil three bowls of water down to one, take it twice a day to drive out the cold." Attendant Sean took the pills and prescription carefully and put them away.

"Thank you." Yaelle felt very embarrassed when he brought up that private matter. Young Master Xavier reminded her of a few more things before taking his leave.

Michael chatted with her for a while. He told her to rest well, then left the room. Only Attendant Sean and Attendant Sam stayed to continue caring for her.

On the way back, Young Master Xavier could not help thinking about the lovely girl. She was different from the rude and arrogant women these days. She was polite and easy to be around.

If all women were like her, his father wouldn't have to keep urging him to marry. He was almost twenty. Taxes were not a problem, but the government matchmaking worried him.

No one knew what kind of woman he would be matched with. And with how rare women were now, waiting for a match might end badly. Just thinking about it gave him a headache.

Meanwhile, Attendant Sean and the others boiled the medicine and brought it to Yaelle. Her small face scrunched up in disgust. She hated traditional medicine the most.
