She dove into the book and read for several hours. She quickly ate a simple lunch at noon, then sneaked off to the bathroom twice using the space.
The process was very uncomfortable. Yaelle pinched her nose and rushed to the bathroom. Although she could use the chamber pot, she was too embarrassed to have two boys help empty it, so she insisted on using the bathroom.
Then she quickly went to the space to finish. The bathroom environment was unpleasant, and she couldn't get used to the rough paper there. Her flush toilet at home was much more convenient, with no bad smell at all.
She also noticed that time seemed different in the space. In the morning, while they went to the kitchen for hot water, Yaelle sneaked into the space to brush her teeth and wash her face. She finished before they came back.
After waiting another two or three minutes, they finally returned. Because the kitchen always kept hot water ready, their trip usually took two or three minutes. Yaelle guessed that time might be frozen in the space, but she still needed to confirm.
It wasn't until before dinner that Michael came to visit her, pulling her out of the book.
Michael asked with concern, "Yaelle, you're not better yet. Why don't you rest more?"
"Zack, go tell the kitchen to send today's dinner here. I'll eat with her."
"Okay, miss," Zack replied and left.
"I've been lying down so long, my bones are stiff. I actually can't sleep, just killing time," Yaelle said. The siblings chatted casually. Following the principle of speaking less to avoid mistakes, Michael mostly asked questions and she answered.
Their personalities were a bit different. Originally, when they were kids, they were very close and she was lively and cheerful. But after their parents passed away, it hit her hard.
Her brother took over the family business in a rush and was very busy, so he had little time with her. She gradually became more withdrawn. Yaelle ran a small supermarket and talked with many people every day, so she remained fairly outgoing.
They talked for less than half an hour before dinner was ready. Only the two siblings ate, so the kitchen sent just seven or eight dishes to avoid waste. The meal wasn't very rich but was very delicate, with a good balance of meat and vegetables. The warm atmosphere made them hungry.
"Yaelle, this steamed fish is good. Eat more," Michael said, picking a piece, removing small bones, and putting it in her bowl.
"Thank you, brother. You eat too," she said, putting some of his favorite dish in his bowl.
They ate and talked, the atmosphere warm and comfortable.
After dinner, Yaelle remembered her plan and said, "Brother, the back garden is almost abandoned now. I want to take care of it and plant something else. What do you think?"
"What do you want to plant?" Michael asked with curiosity.
"I only have an idea for now. I don't know if it will work. When the seeds grow, I will tell you.
But I need you to help find a good farmer."
Michael smiled warmly. "Still keeping it secret, huh? Alright, when I find someone, I will bring them to you."
Yaelle smiled back at him. "Thank you, brother."
Michael felt that his sister seemed happier than before today. He didn't think much about it. This was good. Their mother had been gone for over two years now, and it was time for his sister to move on and start a new life.
They chatted casually for a while, and he supervised her taking the bitter medicine for the day. They left only when the sky grew dim.
Two quiet days passed like this. When the doctor said she no longer needed to take medicine, Yaelle was almost moved to tears. No one knew how hard those days had been.
She couldn't go outside, wash her hair, or take a bath. She also couldn't eat cold or spicy food. Being from Sichuan-Chongqing, life without spicy food was impossible.
She sneaked into her space to eat spicy strips and pickled chicken feet to satisfy her cravings. She even made a bowl of spicy beef noodles. This also proved her space was truly frozen.
The boiled water from two days ago was still hot. This was good, like a large fridge. She no longer needed to worry about food spoiling inside.
After dinner, she told Attendant Sean and Attendant Sam to heat water. She wanted a good bath. Yaelle was happy that there was no bathtub before and she only used showers.
Now she could really enjoy a proper bath. The bathtub in the separate room was very large. Attendant Sean and Attendant Sam ran back and forth several times to fill it and adjust the water temperature.
They also carefully added flower petals and herbs. After everything was ready, Yaelle refused their offer to help her bathe and sent them out.
They looked like they wanted to say something but did not. She still insisted they leave.
No way. She didn't like anyone watching or helping when she bathed. Especially two boys. That would be too awkward and embarrassing.
After they left and gently closed the door, Yaelle slowly took off her clothes and stepped into the tub. When her whole body sank into the hot water, she sighed softly. It was so comfortable.
Yaelle closed her eyes and felt the warmth of the water. Her mood slowly relaxed. She thought about what had happened in the last few days.
Her new life didn't seem so bad. It was even better than her old modern life. Her home was excellent, and she didn't have to run around to make a living.
She had a caring brother and servants to help. Many things did not need her to do herself. This era was also more friendly to women.
No one would mock her for not having children anymore. Here, it was the woman's choice to have children. "I want to have a child with you" might be the sweetest love words.
Also, this body she had now didn't have the illness from multiple miscarriages like she did before. She probably wouldn't be childless like in her past life. Actually, it was a bit sad.
She liked children a lot, but she had no luck having any before. While Yaelle thought this, outside the room was a different scene. Attendant Sean felt worried and said,
"Attendant Sam, do you feel the lady has been distant from us lately? She doesn't want us to do many things anymore. Our relationship isn't as close as before."
"Is it because we didn't rescue her in time that day and she swallowed water, suffering so much?"
Attendant Sam replied, "I'm not sure either, but it doesn't feel like she's angry at us. She just became more polite and reserved." He was also confused about this.
