Temari had just been thinking to herself, cursing Gaara as "not the least bit lovable" and vowing, "If he gets beaten by that Aoki Sora guy, I'm not lifting a finger."
And then, the next moment...
That damned vision appeared out of nowhere.
And it opened with a bang, her future self, right there in front of the whole world, confessing to Aoki Sora!
No, not just confessing. This wasn't a simple love confession. This was throwing herself at him, outright proposing marriage!
And the reason she gave...
"You let Gaara go before, and this time, you saved him again."
That meant Aoki Sora had spared Gaara — in other words, he'd defeated him!
So what she'd muttered bitterly just moments ago had actually come true? Gaara really would get beaten by this Aoki Sora?!
And then...
"As the price for sparing Gaara, didn't you already make me, his sister, serve at your side as a maid for half a year?"
So after Gaara's defeat, she'd bargained for his life by agreeing to be Aoki Sora's maid for six months?
And later, he'd saved Gaara again?
Which finally led her to propose marriage herself?
This...
It was too much information to process all at once.
And it hit her like a slap in the face.
But worst of all-
"Temari, you..."
Beside her, Kankuro stared in shock, then his face filled with dread. His hand instinctively gripped the strings of his puppet, his eyes darting to Gaara standing just ahead of them.
Because Gaara was right there.
"Oh?"
Gaara's eyes had narrowed to slits, his gaze darkening.
He'd seen the vision.
That he would lose to Aoki Sora.
That Temari had begged for his life, made herself a servant to that man, and that was why he'd been spared.
What a joke.
"Temari." Gaara's voice was low, dangerous.
"W-wait, Gaara! That vision might not be real!"
Kankuro's heart raced as he spoke, his whole body tense like he was facing an enemy ambush.
"Every vision so far has been about that Aoki Sora guy. There's gotta be something fishy about this! Maybe it's the enemy messing with us! We can't let a single vision tear us apart from within!"
Sure, not every vision had featured Aoki Sora. The one showing Hiashi's death didn't. But none of that mattered now.
What mattered was this: with Gaara's cold, proud nature, hearing that he'd lost — and been spared only thanks to a woman's begging — wouldn't make him grateful.
It would make him furious.
Furious enough to kill that woman first.
"Exactly!" Temari added, desperate. "How could I ever propose to someone from Konoha? Marry someone from Konoha? Never! I'd rather die! And I know you, Gaara. I'd never interfere in your fight. That vision was full of lies!"
"Yeah, this is probably Konoha's doing, or even Aoki Sora's himself, trying to mess with us!" Kankuro insisted. "Gaara, don't let that thing get in your head!"
Gaara stood in silence, the killing intent that had started to leak from him slowly easing.
Temari's frantic defense — especially when she said "I'd never interfere in your fight" — seemed to placate him, just a little.
"Hmph. See that you remember." Gaara's voice was ice. "Temari, if you ever dare interfere in my battles — I'll kill you first."
"...!!!"
Temari's heart clenched at his words.
"I get it! I promise!" she said at once.
Inside, she exhaled in relief.
That had been way too close.
She'd practically touched death's door and made it back by the skin of her teeth.
All thanks to that damned vision.
Aoki Sora, defeat Gaara? Make her beg and serve him?
Never.
And Gaara, beaten so badly he couldn't even escape without her begging?
Ridiculous.
And even if somehow they were enemies, would Aoki Sora really spare a jinchuriki like Gaara just because she asked him to?
A monster like Gaara, released back into the wild?
None of it made sense!
If something that absurd ever happened, fine — she'd propose, just like the vision said.
Damn it!
Temari clenched her fists, seething at the memory.
All because of some stupid vision, she'd nearly been killed by her own brother.
"Ah..."
At that same moment, in Konohagakure, Aoki Sora's mouth twitched.
