“…You’re such a useless daughter,” the emperor uttered after a brief pause.
Apollonia’s tears flowed even more upon hearing his words, which prompted him to look at Eckhart once again.
“As the crown prince, you must understand that marriage of a royalty isn’t solely determined by love, do you not? Or did you forget all about the verbal promise between Samara and Bjorn?”
As the ruler of a vast nation, the emperor understood that he couldn’t cling to a marriage the prince wished to dissolve. Instead, he chose to approach the matter from a business standpoint.
However, contrary to the emperor’s expectations, Eckhart surprised him with a bold response.
“Please forgive me, Your Majesty, but I’ve been informed that due to circumstances of the empire, the previously mentioned deal cannot be fulfilled.”
“What was that?”
