Kiera sprang up from her chair and the file in her hand fluttered to the floor. Isaac flinched, rushing to go gather them before they were stained with dirt.
"Now?!" Kiera asked, bewildered. It's way too soon! I haven't even–"
Eitan's brows furrowed slightly, making her stop short. She bit the inside of her cheek, then turned back to look at the unconscious Ava, before she shifted her attention back to Eitan.
"I'm… not allowed to call her even once if I leave?" She asked softly.
"Unfortunately, no." Eitan responded curtly.
Kiera's fists clenched. "Won't… won't you just let me stay a bit longer…? May–maybe until she opens her eyes–"
"I thought we already discussed this?" Eitan questioned with a sigh, his hands in his suit pocket. The urge to rub his temples made them twitch. "You know how unreasonable your request is, and you still ask."
Kiera was silent for a long time, then she sniffed and tried wiping her eyes with the back of her hand, but the tears wouldn't stop coming.
