“I suppose so. I am merely saying it is unsettling, as if my beloved cousin died and has been replaced by a complete stranger,” Johannes retorted.
Chloe could feel the thorny hostility in the Prince’s voice. The tension hung heavily between them, palpable even to the most unobservant bystander. What further unnerved Chloe was Damien’s apparent lack of interest in defusing the situation.
“Marriage has a way of bringing about many changes, though that may be difficult for an unwed man such as yourself to fully appreciate,” Damien said.
