----------------------------------------------------------
A powerful kick landed squarely on Verethragna's chest.
The impact was merciless.
Although he raised his guard in time, the force still drove him backward, his feet carving long tracks into the ground as he slid continuously. Shirou Emiya moved instantly, stepping in to press the advantage.
But Verethragna was no easy opponent.
He seized Shirou Emiya's arm mid-motion and flung him away without hesitation.
Shirou adjusted in mid-air, twisting his body before landing firmly on the ground. The instant his feet touched down, he charged again.
The clash intensified.
Fists collided again and again, each impact heavier than the last. But this exchange was only one facet of the battle. The overall confrontation was steadily escalating. The two swept across the land, unleashing everything they had learned, demonstrating all they possessed on this battlefield.
Under their destruction, the already ruined terrain became even more desolate.
After another collision forced them apart, both retreated instinctively.
Then they charged again.
This time-
Only fists.
"Ugh-ahhh!"
"Ugh-ahhh!"
Blows with terrifying power slammed into one another in rapid succession. Shockwaves burst outward with every punch, gusts of wind rippling through the surroundings.
At some point, without exchanging a word, the two reached an unspoken agreement.
They stopped moving.
They stood their ground.
And they traded blows.
From a distance, their fists blurred. Speed and power surged simultaneously, afterimages appearing in an instant. Their martial arts reached their absolute peak in that moment.
The final exchange detonated like a silent explosion.
Shirou Emiya and Verethragna were both sent flying backward.
They landed heavily.
Both were gravely wounded.
They steadied themselves, standing firm as fresh blood dripped continuously from their hands. Neither spared it a glance.
Their eyes remained locked.
Burning.
The next instant, they moved again.
Once more, they charged.
But no longer bare-handed.
Weapons appeared in both their grips.
Clang!
The Golden Sword collided with Chaser and Banisher.
The sound rang out sharply.
Terrifying Juryoku erupted from the point of impact, whipping violent winds into existence that tore through everything nearby. Locked together, weapons pressed tight, sparks scattering as metal screamed against metal.
Neither yielded.
They stared at each other, expressions fierce, intent unmistakable.
"It seems martial arts alone won't decide this!"
"You truly are a warrior who makes my heart race, Godslayer!"
Their smiles widened.
Together, they shouted-
"Let's decide it!"
The sky responded.
Wind surged.
A violent gale erupted, centered on Shirou Emiya and Verethragna. In an instant, the storm escalated into a disaster-class tempest, easily surpassing level ten. Rain followed, pouring down in sheets.
Sardinia's Mediterranean climate offered no protection.
Neither possessed authority over rain, yet the surrounding sea answered the storm's call. Vast quantities of seawater were torn into the sky and hurled downward.
Thunder roared.
Lightning crawled across the clouds, flashing violently, poised to strike at any moment.
The battlefield had transformed.
It looked like the end of the world.
"This..." Shuna muttered, bracing herself with Juryoku atop a distant mountain. "This is what a true God-slaying battlefield looks like."
Beside her, the other two struggled just to remain standing.
Fear gripped them.
"So this is the power of a Godslayer and a Heretic God..."
"They're not even people anymore."
"They're natural disasters."
Erica stared in disbelief.
As a member of a prestigious magical family, she had been taught since childhood how dangerous Heretic Gods and Godslayers were. But hearing and seeing were entirely different things.
No explanation could compare to witnessing it firsthand.
Erica had once dreamed of becoming someone like her uncle Paul-someone capable of defeating divine beasts. In her mind back then, divine beasts were impressive, but not unreachable.
If her uncle could defeat them, then surely she could as well.
That confidence had grown into a faint disdain for Heretic Gods.
It shattered now.
"Both of them..."
"They're far too strong."
Erica and Liliana spoke almost simultaneously.
...
Despite the terror gripping those outside the battlefield, within it, the struggle continued unabated.
At first glance, nothing seemed different.
But that impression was false.
Both Shirou Emiya and Verethragna were now fighting at full strength.
And yet-
They were deadlocked.
The reason was simple.
Their abilities overlapped too much.
Shirou Emiya possessed only one Authority. Aside from the divine artifacts in his hands, his primary powers were wind and thunder manipulation.
Verethragna's incarnations-Wind and Goat-granted the same capabilities.
They could both control wind.
They could both command lightning.
The storm they conjured together could not harm either of them. Lightning struck lightning, canceling itself out. Their wide-area authorities neutralized one another completely.
What remained for Shirou Emiya were his two divine artifacts.
What remained for Verethragna were eight incarnations.
Youth.
Warrior.
Phoenix.
White Horse.
Bull.
Camel.
Boar.
Ram.
Yet even among those eight, few were truly effective in this battle. Even fewer posed a genuine threat to Shirou Emiya.
Verethragna had to seize every opening.
Shirou Emiya would not allow many.
Clang!
Golden Sword clashed with Chaser and Banisher once more.
A massive force surged through the divine artifacts and poured directly into Shirou Emiya's body.
"A bull, huh?"
Shirou was ready.
He knew Verethragna's ten incarnations well.
The moment the decisive battle began, Shirou Emiya had already equipped the Sun Wheel Armor. Its effect continuously weakened the force transmitted through his opponent's attacks.
Even before becoming a Godslayer, Shirou Emiya's physical strength as an adventurer had been monstrous.
After ascending further, his body had undergone yet another transformation.
It was even more formidable now.
Because of that, even empowered by the Bull incarnation, Verethragna could not overwhelm him through sheer strength alone. After being further reduced by the Sun Wheel Armor, the threat diminished even more.
The Bull incarnation-
Could not decide this battle.
