"Me... a Demon Lord?"

Rimuru stared blankly, disbelief written all over his face.

"If I remember correctly, Shirou," he said slowly, "you're a Hero, right?"

He looked up.

"What kind of Hero encourages his friend to become a Demon Lord?"

Rimuru had never wanted that title.

What he wanted was simple. An ordinary life. A peaceful one.

In the original course of events, before Shion and the others met their end, the idea of becoming a Demon Lord had never crossed his mind. Not even once.

"What about being a Hero?"

Shirou Emiya waved his hand irritably, clearly unimpressed.

"Just like how modern magical girls are a high-risk profession, modern Heroes are the same."

He spoke casually, almost dismissively.

"In the past, a Hero only had one enemy. The Demon Lord in front of them. You defeat the Demon Lord, marry the princess, and that's the story."

He paused.

"But now?"

"Now Heroes have to deal with the Demon Lord in front of them, the army behind them, and even watch their own teammates."

His tone flattened.

"If you're careless, you won't even know how you died."

He leaned back slightly.

"What's the point of being a Hero like that?"

"If I didn't want to avoid crossing a moral line, I'd even consider becoming a Demon Lord myself."

Rimuru blinked.

"So instead of defecting to an existing Demon Lord," Shirou continued, "isn't it more interesting to cultivate your own?"

After listening to that long explanation, Rimuru could only smile helplessly.

"Don't mix anime logic with reality," he said.

As a former otaku, Rimuru was well aware of industry trends. Magical girls becoming a death sentence after a certain "Warrior of Love" wasn't news to him.

But that was fiction.

This was real life.

Shirou Emiya smiled.

The joking expression faded.

"As I said before," he said calmly, "as long as we keep expanding, we'll eventually clash with other monsters in the Jura Forest."

His voice was steady.

"Whether it's for our dreams or for the people following us, conquering the Jura Forest isn't optional."

"It's inevitable."

Rimuru listened quietly.

"When that happens," Shirou continued, "we'll become a thorn in the eyes of the Demon Lords."

"They won't allow weaker existences to control such a region."

He looked directly at Rimuru.

"So you need power."

He reached out and patted Rimuru's shoulder.

"Neither of us likes fighting. I know that."

"But this world isn't gentle."

"It's a world where the strong prey on the weak."

"Those without power don't get choices."

"They don't get freedom."

Shirou's hand dropped.

"Is that the kind of life you want?"

"Think carefully."

With that, he reached over, took half of the grilled meat from the rack, and turned to leave.

He didn't look back.

This wasn't a decision he could make for Rimuru.

It was something Rimuru had to decide on his own.

The next day.

Inside Rimuru's room, the two sat facing each other once more.

"Shirou," Rimuru said.

His voice was firm.

"I've decided."

He took a breath.

"I'm going to become a Demon Lord."

"I'll aim for it."

"I'll gain the power to protect everyone."

The night before, after Shirou left, Rimuru had spent a long time thinking alone.

Eren and her companions' words echoed in his mind. The Western Nations' view of the Jura Forest. Their caution. Their restraint.

Those nations might not harbor ill will.

But others would.

The Eastern Empire, in particular.

They had avoided the Jura Forest only because the Storm Dragon Veldora was sealed there. Now that Veldora had vanished, nothing stopped them from using the forest as a foothold.

And Rimuru understood humans.

He had been one.

Humans did not treat non-humans kindly.

As a former human, Rimuru didn't want to become humanity's enemy.

But as a monster in this life, he couldn't afford blind trust.

He needed power.

Right now, he still had Shirou Emiya. A top-tier combatant who could deter almost anything.

But Shirou wouldn't stay forever.

He had family.

He had other worlds.

He would leave one day.

So Rimuru needed to stand on his own.

He needed to become a Demon Lord.

"It's good that you understand," Shirou said.

He nodded, genuinely satisfied.

At that moment, a steady voice sounded from outside the door.

"Excuse us."

The door opened.

Six figures stepped inside.

"Lord Rimuru," they said together. "We've arrived."

"Everyone's here," Rimuru replied.

Shirou glanced at them and couldn't help smiling.

Rimuru's naming habit had struck again.

Terrifying.

Absolutely terrifying.

Things unfolded exactly as Shirou expected.

Rimuru intended to give all six of them names.

The Ogre Magi were surprised, but they didn't refuse. Power was what they sought, and revenge was their driving force.

Only one of them hesitated.

Shuna.

She showed a trace of concern.

Naming high-ranking monsters consumed enormous amounts of magical essence. Naming all six at once was extremely dangerous.

But Rimuru didn't mind.

"At worst," he said, "I'll just sleep for a few days."

Hearing that, Shirou laughed silently.

Rimuru had no idea.

He recovered so quickly before because of Veldora.

A Storm Dragon-grade magical essence battery.

An absurd one.

Well-deserved.

Soon, Rimuru spoke their names one by one.

Benimaru.

Shuna.

Souei.

Shion.

Hakurou.

Kurobe.

The moment the last name left his mouth, Rimuru collapsed.

"Pfft."

"As expected."

Shirou laughed openly this time.

The six stared at him with strange expressions.

Shirou walked over, picked up the unconscious Rimuru, and turned back to face them.

"Rimuru's naming ability is extremely powerful," he said calmly.

"This naming will most likely cause you to evolve into Kijin."

He met their gazes one by one.

"Don't worry about Rimuru."

"Go back. Feel the changes in your bodies."

"Remember this sensation."

"This evolution will benefit you for the rest of your lives."

"Yes, Lord Shirou Emiya."

The six answered in unison.

During their conversation the previous night, they had already learned of Shirou Emiya's human origin.

They didn't care.

This world respected strength.

And Shirou's strength was undeniable.

Since they had pledged themselves to Rimuru, they would follow the rules here.

That included respecting Shirou Emiya.

One day later, the transformation was complete.

Benimaru and the others had evolved.

From Ogre Magi.

To Kijin.

Their strength changed drastically.

Each of them reached A-rank or higher.

True Super A-class combatants.

The moment Shirou saw that, he didn't hesitate.

He dragged all six into sparring matches.

Without using his trump cards, their combined strength was finally enough to pressure him.

Barely.

And that was enough to excite him.

The six didn't complain.

They were satisfied.

Every match ended the same way.

They were defeated.

Completely.

But Shirou always pointed out their flaws.

Every weakness.

Every bad habit.

Every wasted movement.

For warriors who sought power and revenge, this kind of training was priceless.

They improved constantly.

And they welcomed every beating.

Because this time-

They were growing stronger.
