Leng Shi and Lei Shi fled at their top speed. They crossed many more Beast territories, but they didn't meet another Beast on the same level as the Iron Bone Black Eagle, at least, not one that was able to fly.
As they were reached Lake Chad, they saw a group fighting a Lake Serpent.
This Lake Serpent was about twenty-five meters long with green-scales.
They recognized this Lake Serpent to be a Green Jade Mamba.
It was the result of the cross between a green mamba snake and an unknown species of Invader Beast. The "Jade" in its name was given because when the Lake Serpent was still, as it lay underwater, it looked like green jade. This breed of Lake Serpent was a very dangerous one among Lake Serpents. It had the ability to shoot water from its mouth like a water-hose, and to spray out of its fangs, like a spitting cobra, a poison so terrifying that its toxicity could melt rocks.
The Green Jade Mamba was second only to its sister breed, the Black Hades Mamba, the product of a cross between an unknown Invader Beast species and a Black Mamba, its poison's toxicity was so great that it could melt metal, speak less of its potency, thus, the name Hades was added to its name because everyone and everything that met with its poison had gone to see Hades.
Lei Shi and Leng Shi wanted to detour round the lake as soon as they saw the Green Jade Mamba, however, the saying of 'Before you see a monkey on the tree, the monkey had already seen you' proved to be true at that time. The group that was fighting the Green Jade Mamba spotted them too.
They still wanted to take a detour, but after thinking of the man with the Ash-colored Rank 6 HTB suit who was chasing after them, and the equally terrifying Research Rector, they ruled out such idea.
They couldn't risk it because they knew just how fast Rank 6 HTB suits could travel and how this group wouldn't move to stop their pursuers because Acme Company's people, especially the strong ones like the man with the Ash-colored HTB suit, weren't ones that people would casually antagonize. Therefore, the conclusion would be their pursuers catching up with them since they wouldn't have to detour.
Lastly, it was possible that the group may be kindhearted and let them pass as long they didn't interfere.
Upon coming closer, they were able to properly apprise the members of that group.
The group had four members, all with HTB suits, and they were giving their all as they fought the Lake Serpent. Although they were so many of them in their group, they couldn't pin down the snake, firstly, because if its nimbleness, and secondly, because none of them were willing to be on the receiving end of its poison.
Even though the HTB suits could block the sprayed poison, that applied only to Rank 4 HTB suits and above, since they had helmets and improved defenses. Lower leveled HTB suits could block it, but only for a limited time. However, this was with the prerequisite that the Green Jade Mamba only sprayed its poison. If someone was bitten by it, then unless that person had the protection of a Rank 6 HTB suit, that would spell death.
The vanguard of their fight against the Lake Serpent was a Rank 6 HTB suit wielder; two Rank 4 HTB suit controlled the pace of the battle and created openings for the vanguard; and a Rank 5 HTB suit wielder was the protector.
The vanguard, a man with a green-colored Rank 6 HTB Armor, fought the Green Jade Mamba head-on.
He was rather skilled. He was able to find openings and injured the Green Jade Mamba, at the same time; he dodged its attacks and did not give it room to switch its attention to his weaker teammates.
The two Rank 4 HTB suit wielders were also skilled in their own right, they moved to attack its sides, and dampened the speed of its charge when the Green Jade Mamba began to get more feisty and restless. They also launched deadly attacks on it anytime it wanted to corner the vanguard or when it stayed still, a sign that it wanted to launch a bite.
The Protector too wasn't half bad either. Using flames and a fire whip, she was able to restrict its movement, pulled her teammates out of trouble, char the scales of the Green Jade Mamba, thereby making it easier for her teammates' weapons to pierce through it.
The four of them fought well, but when they saw Leng Shi and Lei Shi flying by, the vanguard left the Green Jade Mamba and flew up to block their path, leaving his vanguard spot open, causing the protector to move forward and fill it.
"Hey you two. Where are you going?" asked the Rank 6 HTB Armor wielder curtly.
"On my way to fuck your bitch" was the reply Leng Shi wanted to give. But Lei Shi, knowing just how sharp his brother's tongue was, hastily replied the man "We're just passing by".
"Good, then give us a hand. We've been fighting that Green Jade Mamba for some time now and I'm almost out of energy. You guys should swap with me for some time, at least until I'm recharged. Don't worry, we'll give you a share of the spoils" said the man in a blunt commanding tone.
"Fucking bastard, who the fuck do you think you are? Who the fuck died and made you Boss?" was the replied Leng Shi was going to give. But Lei Shi, knowing his brother and not wanting to create another enemy at that critical time of them being chased, beat him to it again and replied "No thanks, we're actually in a rush. Maybe next time"
They both moved to the side.
"Oh, No. I insist" said the man assertively as he moved and blocked them once more.
Leng Shi's hand already reached for his saber when Lei Shi secretly held him back and replied "OK, since you put it that way. We wouldn't mind helping you out a bit" he chuckled.
The chuckle sounded so refreshing that it seemed like it could ease all tensions. But Leng Shi, who knew this brother of his the most, knew that that chuckled was the laugh of a devil.
They descended, and when they took the roles of protectors, the man with the Green-colored Rank 6 HTB Armor said to the woman who was at the vanguard "Flame Lady, step back. We have helpers".
"Flame Lady? Wait; don't tell me you people are... No wonder you look so familiar. Well, that makes it even more prefect" Lei Shi thought to himself then he smiled sinisterly under his mask, thinking of the best way to fuck them up.
These people were members and soldiers of Kangaroo Corps. They were also the same four who arrived at the secret facility of Kangaroo Corps after Leng Shi and Lei Shi stole the Three-Horned Komodo Dragon Egg and killed Huo Feng and Poland.
It turned out Flame Lady got a new and improved Rank 5 HTB suit, a great advancement from her previous Rank 3 HTB suit which was similar in Rank to her dead husband's.
Lei Shi was curious as to how she got the money to buy it. He concluded that it might've probably been her husband's life insurance money that she used. He also thought about whom the last member of their group was, but he brushed the thought aside, telling himself that it might just be some random dude for all he cares.
Flame Lady did as she was told.
As soon as she jumped backwards, away from the Green Jade Mamba, Lei Shi and Leng Shi jumped forward, taking her role as the vanguard. They began fighting with the injured and unstable Green Jade Mamba.
After seeing that they had truly and fully taken the role, the man was a little surprised. He thought he would have to fight them a little and show his power before they would yield. But now, after seeing that they had complied without a fight, he was disappointed and disgusted at how spineless they were.
He took it as that they may have seen how he fought the Green Jade Mamba and thus been frightened by it, to the point of reverence.
He looked at his teammates, nodded at them and walked towards the lake.
Seeing him walk away, Lei Shi asked "Where is he going?".
"Shut up and focus. That's none of your business" said Flame Lady harshly.
"Hell NO!" replied Lei Shi loudly. He then added in a distressed tone "He just said he was going to rest a little. Was this what you guys planned originally?. To abandon us?"
"I said it's none of your business" she replied coldly.
"No way am I doing this. I'm gonna run, I won't let you guys lead me to my death" Lei Shi said then he began to withdraw from the Green Jade Mamba, seeming as though he truly wanted to run.
"Wait you Bastard" Flame Lady exclaimed hotly.
"Not until you tell me" he replied, sounding distressed and frightened.
"Okay. Okay. Just tell them" the man in the green-colored Rank 6 HTB Armor said to Flame Lady, as he had stopped halfway to the lake when he had seen Lei Shi attempting to run away.
"OK, good." Flame Lady said. She approved, but in her mind she made a mental note to kill Leng Shi and Lei as soon as they were done with the fight. She hated it when someone refused to obey her and hated it even more when someone forces her to do something she didn't want to.
