Chapter 22 - Epilogue

"Oh Shit! What the fuck! You really cried? HAHAHAHAHAHA"

Annika's laugh reverberated throughout the entire room which made me want to smack her right in the face. Rico must have sensed it because he dragged her out of the apartment.

I sneered at the door before hugging Harriett by the waist, my chin resting on her shoulders as she chuckled.

"You're really cruel, do you know that?"

Harriett's soft chuckle was nice to the ears, a different sound from the one Annika was making outside her apartment door.

"I thought you knew. You did say you read all of my works"

"Not your revised one"

I rebutted but was only met with Harriett's laugh. Because as it turned out, the last revised book had a completely different ending than the one I had read.

In the revised one, the female character, parentheses Harriett, found her reason to live a long life. She fixed her life little by little, step by step to ensure that she will never hurt the person she loves.

What she had meant by can't be apart but can't be together either was her changing herself for the better before she can properly tell me how she feels and date me.

And her novel?

I buried my face on the nook of her neck when I remembered.

"Kael"

Harriett warned but I only grinned at her.

"You were thinking of marriage, kids and growing old together?"

I teased but I loved when she smiled at me.

"That's why I told you that I can't be the one to hurt you anymore. And that I don't want to still be a mess when we move to that part of our lives"

Her novel ended with the characters growing old together, married and happily alive amidst their traumas and pain.

I smiled and planted a kiss on her cheeks as my embrace around her tightened. Because I will never let Harriett go ever again.

"I love you Qian Harriett and I will stay with you until my dying breath"

Harriett smiled and planted a soft kiss on my lips before she said.

"I love you too Pierce Kael. Please don't give up on me"

I smiled and kissed her back, the way I've always wanted to.

"Never"

I replied and her genuine smile was the one that made ripples in my heart as she kissed me again.

And this was the start of our new chapter.

Oh!

Did I mention how many days it had been since she had told me to wait until her last book gets published?

Turns out, the very next day, her book had been out in the market. And now, you know why Annika was laughing her ass off.

Well, that's our story and the way I see it, we're right at the start of a wonderful new chapter.
