Orion paused. He went back into the bag shuffling through it. "What are you looking for?" Leo asked. "The last ingredient… it's not here?" He said still rummaging through the bag. "Are you missing something?" I asked. "Yes! There's one more item required for the ritual it's from this little pit on moonlit field somewhere. I need dirt from it but it's not in this bag." Orion said. He grabbed the bag zipping it back up as if out of ideas. "Maybe we could go get it?" I said. He pointed at me. "Yes Luna that's perfect! You two go get the dirt i'll prepare the items for the ritual meet back here by nightfall." Orion said. Leo and I stood up I wiped myself off. "See you then," Then, Leo and I walked off to go find the dirt. "So do you think this will be easily spotable?" I asked. He scratched the back of his head laughing. "I sure hope so!" Leo responded. "Me too, id rather not be here all day." I said. "Same Luna, same." A few hours of walking and looking, we came across a blueberry bush. "Oh my gosh ive been so hungry." I grabbed some and started to eat. "Luna i'm not so sure that was a good idea." Leo said. "Why? What could possibly go wrong with blueberries? Eat up Leo." I grabbed more and started to eat. "I don't think I will." I shrugged. "Your loss." I grabbed more blueberries and ate them I felt full then we continued to walk. "Luna, that really wasn't smart you don't know what those blueberries will do." Leo said after 5 minutes. "Leo it will be f-" Then Leo vanished into thin air. "Leo? Leo? Where are you!" I yelled. Suddenly, I heard a rustling sound coming from the bushes. "Leo? Is that you?" It wasn't Leo. A woman came out, she was young maybe about 12 with a boy. I ran behind some bushes and hid. The woman walked out holding hands with a man they both looked young. "Today is my ceremony!" The woman said. "Yea I know it's a big deal for you Moonlights." She jokingly hit him on the shoulder. "Oh stop it." He laughed. "Will anything change after today?" The boy asked. "I hope not." The woman said. She put the back of her hand over his hair. "I love you. I know it's forbidden but I love you so much." The woman said. "I love you too Lyra Moonlight." I stood up from the bushes, was this a relative of mine? They were hugging. "Lyra?" I asked. No response, "Lyra?" I asked again still no response.
Then something strange happened, they started to walk and walked right through me. I turned around. "Please! You must tell me who you are!" I yelled. The man turned around his eyes sliver, then he started to speak but his voice was deeper, scary even. "You know exactly who I am." Before I could think, I was sent down the vines from the trees started to drag me down a hole. "HELP!" I screamed but the man was just smiling. "You know what you have to do." Then, the vines covered my mouth pulling me down. I opened my eyes and gasped. "Luna!" Leo yelled. I looked at him confused putting my hand onto my head. "What happened?" I asked. "You collapsed out of nowhere. It was probably those blueberries are you ok?" Leo asked.
"I know where it is." I said. "What?" He asked. "I know where we need to go." I then stood up and started to walk and Leo ran to keep up. "What are you talking about?" He asked. "I know where to find the hole now come on! It's almost nightfall." I started to run and Leo ran to keep up. "Luna I don't understand. Did those blueberries do something to you?" Leo asked. "Were here." I said ignoring Leo. I walked up to the hole and bent down. "This is the dirt we need." Leo walked up and observed it. "How do you know?" He asked. "I just do." I grabbed the vile I got from Orion and put some of the dirt inside. I stood up. "Ready to get going back?" He asked. "Yea, let's go." I put the vile into my pocket and we started to walk back to Orion. The sun started to go down and the moon was starting to rise, I could feel it's energy soaking into me I could tell Leo felt the same. Eventually, we got back to Orion and he was still preparing. When he saw us, he walked up to us. "Did you find it?" He asked. "Yea," I handed the dirt to him. "Perfect." He looked up at the sky to see the sunset. "Isn't it just lovely? This was always your mothers favorite part of the night when the sun would set and the moon began to rise." He looked down from the sky and back at us. "Anyway, who wants to go first?" Orion asked. "I will." I said. "Perfect! Here's your cloak." He handed me the cloak from earlier and I put it on. "Ready to begin?" Orion asked. Filled with fear, I said yes ready for whatever challenges this ritual would have. Orion stood in front of the altar. "Luna you need to stand just outside the altar." And so, I did exactly that. Orion opened the book reading from it.
"We begin by honoring all those who came before us. From the past, and the future. Now we honor the new generation who will become apart of this land. Luna Moonlight please step forward." I got onto the altar admiring the beauty. Orion then said something in another language, "Εὐλόγησον φεγγαρόφωτη· γένοιτο ἀρίστη ὥσπερ ἡ πρὸ τῆς" He then looked up directly at me. "Luna, will you take care of this land as your mother, father, grandmother, and everyone who came before you did?" Orion asked me. "I will." I said. "Please hand me your representation." I extended my arm handing him the moon. Orion lifted a feather that he was holding in his hand and my moon. "The mother and the daughter." He said quietly. "Δείκνυμεν ταῦτα τὰ δύο ἀντικείμενα ὡς παράστασιν τῆς μητρὸς καὶ τῆς θυγατρὸς ἐκ τῆς γενεᾶς τῆς Σελήνης!" Next, Orion poured the blood onto the representations. "Luna Elaine Moonlight are you ready?" Orion asked me. I had never been more ready. "Yes, I am ready." I responded. He grabbed the dirt and the pedals surrounding them around the altar. "Δὸς αὐτῇ κυριότητα καθάπερ ἔδωκας τῇ μητρὶ καὶ τῷ πατρί." Next, Orion placed the orb in front of me. "Place your hand on the orb." Orion said. I took a deep breath looking the orb. I could feel it calling out to me, this orb had such strange emotions. It was as if the orb was alive! I slowly placed my fingertips onto the orb then my full hand.
