Kael's POV.
The wind felt cold against my skin as I stood by the wide, open field. My hands were clasped tight behind my back, fingers twisting together as my thoughts spun like a storm in my head. The elders' words echoed over and over, heavy like stones sinking in my chest.
They told me I had to reject my Luna, Aria, and… kill her. They said she tricked our whole pack, pretending to be her twin sister, Celeste. But I knew the truth from the start.
From the moment I marked her at the mating ceremony, I knew she was Aria, not Celeste. I didn't care. I loved her. I wanted her to trust me, to tell me why she took her sister's place that day.
I waited, hoping she'd open up, but she never did. Now the elders wanted her gone, and I couldn't bring myself to do it. My heart ached, torn between my pack and the woman I loved.
