Aria's POV.
I sat on the edge of my bed, my fingers twisting the soft blue blanket into knots. The room was small, with wooden walls that smelled like pine and a single candle flickering on the nightstand, casting wobbly shadows that danced across the floor.
My heart felt heavy, like a big rock was sitting on my chest, making it hard to breathe. I stared at the door, waiting for Alpha Kael to come back. I needed to talk to him, to say I was sorry for lying, for pretending to be Celeste, my twin sister, when I was really Aria.
I should've told him the truth from the start, that they forced me to give him my virginity so Celeste could take my place at the ceremony later. But I didn't, and now he was gone, nowhere to be found.
