Mister Fantastic was in less of a hurry to return from the Wasteland Universe now. He proposed a theory called "Sliding Time Coordinates," which explained why he had spent a few months in Universe-616 but only a short while had passed in Universe-2149, as well as why the elapsed time was never the same on both sides whenever Peter traveled.
Simply put, when a person leaves one universe and enters another, a time coordinate is created for positioning. The effect of this coordinate is merely to prevent the universe itself from creating time paradoxes. Theoretically, as long as they master the technology of Multiversal travel, they could even return to their original universe the moment after they left.
"There's one exception: if both universes contain matter from the other, the time flow becomes parallel. Therefore, the time flows of Earth-2149 and Earth-616 are already moving parallel. But the good news is that it hasn't happened here yet. We're free to move around in Earth-21923. Probably only four or five hours have passed in our world."
"Well, I should be thankful it's the weekend. Oh, by the way, Mr. Richards, this is Colonel James Rhodes from Earth-91126—the one the Watcher calls Earth-Z—and Mr. Flint Marko, the Sandman, a former super-villain. They are the only two survivors left from Earth-Z."
Perhaps there were still some surviving civilizations deep in the cosmos of Earth-Z, but Peter didn't hold out much hope. Reed merely glanced at the two men and nodded: "You should take them to meet King T'Challa."
"I was just thinking you might need the vibrational frequency data or something from other universes..."
Peter shrugged. The Sandman was in no rush; after the great tribulation of the Zombie Universe, he just wanted a place to settle down in peace. However, Iron Man Rhodes asked with some curiosity: "T'Challa? The T'Challa of this universe is still alive?"
"Uh, no, that's actually Black Panther from Earth-2149, the source universe of your zombies, and the same universe the Watcher finally sent the Zombie Sentry to. We rescued thousands of survivors from there."
The arrival of 2149's Black Panther and Magneto was excellent news. The side of justice in the Wasteland Universe didn't have many leaders. While the old folks could still contribute to fighting super-criminals, governing an entire wasteland world was much more difficult. These two, especially the more trustworthy Black Panther, were exactly what the Sunset Avengers needed. After all, they had three-quarters of America to manage.
Why the extra quarter?
Because Doom from 616 couldn't stand the Wasteland Doom. He couldn't fathom how a world-ruling Victor Von Doom could let the world turn into a wasteland, so he charged in and slaughtered the Doom of this world.
Peter took Rhodes and Sandman to the government building in New Vegas. This used to be the kingdom of the Wasteland Magneto, but the 2149 Magneto had refitted it. The skyscrapers in New Vegas were completed by 2149's Magneto based on Reed's designs. Black Panther, who was processing documents, saw Colonel Rhodes—who looked incredibly aged, with numerous technological implants when he opened his faceplate—and his first reaction was:
"You found Colonel Rhodes?"
"Uh, no, this is Colonel Rhodes from Earth-Z, not the Wasteland Universe. He and the Sandman spent decades eliminating all the zombies on Earth-Z."
Because he had spent decades on the task, Rhodes' age actually fit the general requirements of the Sunset Avengers perfectly. The Sandman, however, looked quite young because he had injected himself with a healing factor to allow his nanobots to constantly reproduce.
"Welcome to this... Multiversal Survivor Sanctuary? That's what Spider-Man calls it. He said that as a Multiversal traveler, he hoped to find a place to settle all the Multiversal survivors—those universes that are as unlucky as ours."
T'Challa began arranging things for the two men, and Peter waved goodbye and left. It was strange, really; he could finally rest quietly in this place. There were no enemies, no crises; the Wasteland Universe was now incredibly safe and leisurely.
"You look like you have nothing to do, Peter."
Old Hawkeye walked over with a can of beer, smiling. He was about to hand it over, then remembered something: "Oh, right, you can't drink. In your world, minors can't drink alcohol yet."
Old Hawkeye chuckled. After the successful transplant of Bullseye's Necro-Lock cybernetic eye, he no longer had to worry about his vision. But there were always other problems to worry about. More and more people needed shelter, but the numbers of the Wasteland Avengers were too few. He had been both frantic and content during this time.
"I don't know. In my world, I'm always busy, needing to handle all sorts of things, solving all kinds of trouble. But here? I've slept for almost a week waiting for Reed to fix the Multiversal Transporter. There's almost nothing to do."
"I know. When things are settled on one side, you always worry about the other. Ashley recently..."
"Spider-Man, I need your help."
A massive, bald head suddenly appeared in front of Peter and Old Hawkeye. The Watcher, who was supposed to be maintaining the new cycle of Earth-Z and Earth-21050, had popped out again.
"I need you to help me stop a Multiversal-level disaster, a very terrifying disaster."
Peter froze for a moment, looking at the Watcher. He asked uncertainly: "Are you sure? I don't have the Captain Universe power right now. The most I have is Mjolnir. And you want me to stop a Multiversal-level disaster?"
"You can do it, Spider-Man. I am very certain of that."
"Alright." Peter stood up. "Looks like it's time to get busy again."
Deadpool had slaughtered his entire universe, eliminating all existence. Finally, he found the door to other realities—the way to the worlds of those damned guys.
He had to find the clown who talked to the Watcher and entertained himself with them. He had to completely eliminate them and end everything.
After he killed the Taskmaster, who had followed him all the way, in a swamp, he executed the Man-Thing and opened the door to the Multiverse.
Now, who could stop him!
As Deadpool prepared to step through the Multiversal door, a figure stepped out first.
"A sewer again? Could you please stop associating spiders with sewers? Oh wait, this is a swamp? What kind of Spider-Man needs a swamp?"
"Yes, yes, I know a lot of them, but I'm definitely not one of them, alright?"
A self-muttering, non-stop talking Spider-Man, holding Mjolnir, walked out of the spatial portal and found himself face-to-face with the newly executed Man-Thing slayer, Deadpool.
"Oh, it's you."
