Everyone—Magneto and Human Torch fighting outside, Scarlet Witch and Dazzler on the city wall, and the others inside the castle—witnessed this scene. Accompanied by a fierce flash, Spider-Man was thrown back, and the superhuman's enhanced vision allowed them to clearly see the shattered Mjolnir.
Almost everyone thought Spider-Man was certainly doomed.
But Doom didn't move, because he noticed Strange merely watched the events with a slight upturn of his lips. Although he looked down on Strange, he had to admit the knowledge and insight passed down by Kamar-Taj. If Strange was so confident, there must be a reason.
Then, they saw the Zombie Sentry rushing toward the fallen Spider-Man, intent on feasting.
They then saw the Zombie Sentry launched into the sky by a single punch.
Only a few seconds earlier.
Peter saw stars, endless stars, a vast ocean of stars appearing before his eyes. Then, a power enveloped him. Peter opened his mouth to ask something, but the power answered first. Peter instantly understood what this power was, and then, he reached out as energy burst forth, punching the Zombie Sentry away.
The Zombie Sentry, flying backward through the air, was both furious and panicked. He was furious that this piece of meat dared to resist him, and he was panicked because, for some unknown reason, he felt that the meat which had injured him was no longer just meat!
"What are you!"
Floating up from the deep pit that had been smashed into the ground was Spider-Man, yet not entirely Spider-Man. His whole body was covered in a profound black, with shimmering, flowing specks of light, like forming stars, turning the surface of his body into a starry sky. The simple patterns on his body and his hands and feet became silver, connecting with the silver spider pattern on his chest.
"We are One, We are Many, We are Mortal, We are also Immortal."
"We are the Guardians of life and the creations of the Universe. We choose the selfless to wield our power."
After the mysterious voice sounded beside the zombie, he heard Spider-Man's addition.
"It means that It is the Enigma Force, or the Power of Captain Universe, and now, I am Captain Universe."
Venom, sensing another consciousness crowding in, let out a sigh and immediately made room for the Enigma Force.
[I have to say, someone is already here, but since you are so powerful, please, go ahead.]
Peter charged at the Zombie Sentry again. After punching the opponent away, he made the motion of shooting a web, but no webbing shot out. Instead, the Zombie Sentry's body surface began to gradually decompose. The Zombie Sentry angrily glared at the other party, then began to control molecules as well, fighting against Spider-Man.
"Doing this won't be enough to defeat the Sentry."
Peter said while thinking, but Venom asked a confused question.
[Isn't stalling for three minutes enough?]
"But if there's a way to eliminate this guy, of course I have to try!" Peter roared, trying to disintegrate the Zombie Sentry with molecular control, then rushed up and gave the opponent a heavy punch, followed by another, completely knocking the Sentry out of Latveria's territory. He quickly followed up while contemplating countermeasures.
The power of Captain Universe allowed for molecular control, matter transformation, and even a certain degree of reality alteration. Moreover, this power was the polar opposite light-based power to Knull. If Knull was the God of Darkness and the Void, then the power of Captain Universe was the God of Light and Life. At the same time, the strength of the Captain Universe power itself was not fixed; it was essentially an amplification of the host's own power, and the host's inherent strength and method of use were the key determinants of the power's intensity.
However, the Sentry's power was even stronger than Peter had imagined.
The same molecular control ability allowed the Sentry to stop Peter's attempt at matter decomposition, while simultaneously freeing up enough power to fight him. In an instant, the two had crossed a large part of Europe, flattening countless mountains and destroying the terrain, yet Peter still couldn't gain the upper hand.
Perhaps the only path truly left was to hold out for enough time and then leave?
Peter began to think rapidly. He started recalling every plot point he could remember about the Marvel Zombies series, and tried his best to think of any solution. After trading another punch with the Zombie Sentry, he actually thought of a possible method, and took a deep breath.
Then, Peter focused almost all of his power, unleashing a dazzling beam of light that relentlessly struck the Zombie Sentry's body.
"Is that all you can do? You are no match for me."
"In the Captain's words, I could do this all day, but I don't have to." Peter looked at the Zombie Sentry flying toward him: "The virus you're infected with—neither you nor the power of Captain Universe can reverse it. But I can do one more thing: I can make you 'full' and eliminate your hunger. Now, temporarily, you are no longer hungry."
The Zombie Sentry, who was rushing towards Peter, froze mid-air, standing still and dazed, and then, as if losing all his strength, fell toward the ground. Peter quickly followed and found that the Zombie Sentry had vanished, replaced by a frail young man wearing a T-shirt and casual pants.
Once a zombie hero momentarily lost their hunger, their sense of morality and past emotions would resurface. This was the method Peter had thought of to defeat the Zombie Sentry: turn the Zombie Sentry back into the ordinary zombie, Bob.
"Oh my God... what have I... done..." Zombie Sentry, no, Zombie Bob looked at Peter: "End this, Spider-Man, end this, please."
"Rest in peace, friend."
Bob offered no resistance as he was completely decomposed. Peter then rushed back toward Latveria Castle, eliminating almost all the invading zombies on the way, before landing on the castle's long corridor. As he landed, the power of Captain Universe began to separate from his body, floating in mid-air, and then departed.
"I thought It would stay a bit longer."
"The Enigma Force leaves the host's body once it confirms the threat is gone." Strange walked over, not giving Peter a chance to ask how he got here, and cut straight to the chase: "Alright, Spider-Man, we need to talk in a moment, but first, you've been in this universe long enough. It's time to leave."
