"You never said you could lift that hammer, Spidey!"
Human Torch, who had just turned another Zombie Nova into a charcoal-grilled Nova, was practically screaming with excitement. Endless lightning bolts spread all around. Peter, wielding Mjolnir to clear out the zombie minions with lightning, shrugged as he responded to the Torch over the comms.
"Yeah, well, Thor always liked his hammer. I never had a chance to pick it up."
As Peter spoke, he flew up and immediately smashed the heads of Zombie Thor, followed by other high-defense zombies like Zombie Luke Cage and Zombie Wolverine.
"Oh my god, is that me?"
The now-zombified Spider-Man from Earth-2149 rubbed his head and hailed the Thor-Spider-Man in the sky: "Hey, over here, look at me! Look at me! Spider-Man! I'm here!"
A bolt of lightning zapped the Zombie Spider-Man into charcoal. In the last moment before losing consciousness, he thought of his wife and Aunt May. After he was infected, he truly couldn't control his hunger and ate them.
Thank you for avenging them...
"Rest in peace."
After sending off the figure who could be considered the true protagonist of the Marvel Zombies main storyline, Peter continued to command the thunder to sweep away wave after wave of zombies. It was funny; initially, he was hesitant about breaking the loop, but once Doom explained that the loop was useless, he stopped caring and simply connected infinite lightning strikes to zap these zombies to death.
But unfortunately, the power of thunder in this universe was not as strong as in the Wasteland Universe, and the efficiency was much slower.
"We have to take out that Thor-Spider-Man, or not a single one of us will make it to the feast!"
Zombie Captain America, defending with his shield, shouted, calling upon their side's strongest fighter.
"Hulk, take him out!"
"Hulk wants to eat bug!"
Zombie Hulk leaped up, charging toward Peter in mid-air, but another entity of equal weight class also pounced, delivering a punch to the Hulk's head that sent him flying: "Ha, big guy, how about finding an opponent in your own weight class?"
Zombies that got close to the fortress were instantly grilled by the Human Torch, while the fortress itself was enveloped in a force field by Sue Storm. Magneto was using various metals, even directly hauling chunks of Asteroid X to smash the nearby zombies. Dazzler and the Scarlet Witch were defending on the walls, and the Doom of Earth-2149 had deployed countless Doom Bots to patrol and sweep.
Only Doctor Doom and Reed Richards were calibrating the Multiverse Travel Machine. Reed still asked anxiously, "This conflicts with our original plan. If we really blow up this Earth, someone absolutely must be left behind to activate the machine, otherwise it can't be done. Spider-Man can't do it either; the moment the machine is activated, the Earth will be destroyed, and he'll die here."
"I don't plan on letting him die; I naturally know his importance." Doom glanced at his Earth-2149 counterpart. Undoubtedly, he had selected the sacrificial victim. Reed looked at the other Doom and asked curiously, "Are you sure this world's version of you would sacrifice himself for all this? I never thought you'd be this noble, Victor."
"The moment I proposed this plan, he must have been thinking about how to leave me behind to activate the machine, then impersonate me, enter my universe, and replace me," Doom said, entirely unconcerned about sharing his thought process with Reed. "So, what I have to do is very simple: act first and leave him behind."
...
That's so typical of you, Doom.
In fact, the Doom of Earth-2149 was indeed thinking about this. He was planning how to use magic to control the mind of the Earth-616 Doom, so that the latter would impersonate him and make the "great sacrifice," never imagining that the Earth-616 Doom had already started his move. But right at this moment, the Watcher's eyes glowed, and he displayed an expression that could only be described as terrified.
"Oh no, you have to hurry, you must hurry! He's here!"
Who's here?
Peter's Spider-Sense immediately screamed, its intensity no less than when Anansi descended. The difference was that when Anansi truly descended, his Spider-Sense actually shut off, unlike now, when it wouldn't stop ringing.
Using the divine power amplified by Mjolnir, Peter saw a golden figure flying from a distance. It was a muscular, golden zombie hero, with a large 'S' engraved on his belt, radiating intense energy.
"Meat! I want fresh meat!"
Everywhere he passed, whether zombie heroes or the Dark Legion, instantly turned to ashes. He grabbed Peter with one hand, opening his blood-filled mouth. Next, a seemingly endless torrent of thunder struck. Peter, bathed in lightning, broke free from the sea of thunder, continuously controlling the lightning to strike the figure.
The Human Torch looked at the golden figure with surprise and confusion: "Who is that? I've never heard of him. Is he one of yours?"
"That's the source of the infection... I've never seen a hero like that."
Inside the Latverian fortress, the Watcher was chattering relentlessly, introducing the newcomer: "That is the Sentry, a terrifying existence that has never appeared in this universe or the 616 universe. He may be the most powerful super-human in the world. He is too powerful; his body contains the power level of a million exploding suns..."
Doctor Doom's hand paused. He looked at the Watcher. If that statement wasn't an exaggeration but the truth, then his plan was essentially doomed—a person with the power of a million suns could not be killed by blowing up the Earth.
So, does that mean he has to resort to the old path of destroying the travel machine?
Reed looked at the crowd stepping through the travel machine, gritting his teeth: "We need at least three more minutes for the crowd to completely pass through the portal."
"You can't last three minutes," the Watcher sighed helplessly. "Neither Spider-Man nor the Human Torch can be a match for the Sentry."
The Zombie Sentry, bathed in lightning, flew out of the column of thunder. Such terrifying lightning couldn't even scratch his skin. The Human Torch, who was about to rush forward to help, heard Peter's angry shout.
"Stay back, Johnny! You're not his match!"
Peter gripped the hammer and took a deep breath. What he had to do was simple. He had already heard the plan over the comms. Three minutes.
He had to use the power of Thor to hold out for those three minutes.
