Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Spider-Man VS Mister Sinister (Part 1)

Mister Sinister was punched into the elevator shaft by an invisible Spider-Man. Peter, who had unconsciously thrown the punch, finally recovered and disengaged his invisibility, faint sparks of electricity still flickering around him.

He walked to the pile of rubble, moved the fallen ceiling, and extended a hand to Cindy: "Are you okay, Cindy?"

Cindy shook her head, looking at Peter who glowed faintly in the darkness due to the subtle electricity still surrounding him: "I'm fine, and... your clothes."

"Oh, uh..."

Peter's current attire was truly unconventional. To facilitate genetic adjustments, he had taken off his suit but kept his mask on, making him look like a pervert in only his underwear and a Spider-Man mask.

"Sorry." After helping Cindy up, Peter immediately activated his invisibility. Cindy then saw the Spider-Man suit floating in the air, then disappearing. When Peter reappeared, he was fully dressed in his uniform. He pressed the spider emblem on his chest, adhering the suit to himself, and awkwardly nodded at the two girls.

Jubilee, however, wasn't shy at all. She smiled at Peter and said, "Nice body."

Peter just pretended not to hear and helped Beast Hank, who was sprawled on the ground, now a normal human and whose yellow and blue suit was clearly ill-fitting, to sit on a chair.

"Are you okay, Hank?"

"I'm fine... I've heard of Leech. His abilities aren't permanent." Hank, helped to a chair, looked at the elevator shaft, then at Peter: "You and Silk are the only ones who can fight Sinister. Be careful."

"Don't worry, I have boundless energy to punch people right now." Peter smiled, charging towards the elevator shaft as he spoke: "I'll take Sinister out immediately, and then Cindy, you take them both up."

He jumped into the pitch-black, bottomless elevator shaft, feeling better than ever. His five senses were enhanced; simply by free-falling, his senses could tell him the subtle changes in air currents. And his spider-sense had never been so keen. The spider-sense, which previously could only detect danger, could now provide real-time feedback based on the opponent's proximity.

Peter extended his hands downwards, white electricity flickering from them, illuminating the bottomless elevator shaft and Mister Sinister's surprised face as he rushed upwards. Not missing a beat, Peter landed behind him, releasing static electricity to enhance his adhesion. Spider-Man crouched on Mister Sinister's back, riding the supervillain as he rocketed skyward. Sinister, realizing this, flew higher while trying to press his back against the elevator shaft wall, but Peter had already sensed his move and fired webs upwards, sticking to the wall.

"You know what? The last time I did something like this was at an amusement park on a drop tower ride." Spider-Man said, leaning close to Mister Sinister's ear: "I love drop towers, you know how they work? Like this!"

Before Mister Sinister could lean back, Spider-Man pulled on the already fired webs, pressing his face against the elevator shaft wall, grinding it. Mister Sinister continued to fly upwards while his face was ground against the wall by Spider-Man, all the way to the elevator shaft exit.

Cyclops, lying on the ground, barely alive, used his eyes—which miraculously weren't emitting lasers—to see a white lightning bolt burst through the bunker. What did he see? Spider-Man riding Mister Sinister, flying into the sky.

"I must be under Sinister's illusion," Cyclops sighed helplessly, looking at the original Human Torch who was standing guard. But the two who had shot into the sky weren't stopping there. Mister Sinister finally reached open space, and he despairingly realized that no matter how much he accelerated, he couldn't shake off this damn bug. In desperation, Mister Sinister telekinetically summoned a hundred-ton truck in mid-air. The massive heavy truck crashed down towards him; he had a healing factor anyway, so he wouldn't be crushed to death.

Spider-Man, as expected, leaped away from him. The massive heavy truck passed between them. Mister Sinister ascended further, planning to use the advantage of his opponent's inability to fly to gain a height advantage. But when he turned around, he saw Spider-Man accelerating towards him, his arms outstretched, relying on inertia and the webbing under his armpits to provide a brief high-altitude flight capability.

Spider-Man successfully grabbed Mister Sinister's shoulder.

"Hello there, Sinister?"

A massive white light orb appeared in the sky, followed by a deafening explosion. Spider-Man spread his web-wings and safely landed near the bunker.

Mister Sinister, physically smoking from the blast, almost free-fell but managed to control himself with telekinesis, landing steadily in front of Spider-Man.

He looked at this reckless individual and placed his hand on his temple.

"Enough! I've had enough of you, bug! I'm going to shut down your brain! You'll never be able to babble again!"

Sinister roared, his consciousness beginning to invade Spider-Man's. Without any obstruction, he already saw the other's consciousness.

Cyclops, lying on the ground, looked up. His visor had fallen off. He stared intently at Mister Sinister, wishing lasers would fire from his eyes.

At that moment, a strange voice echoed in Cyclops's mind.

[Don't worry about Spider-Man, Scott.]

"Emma?"

[My powers haven't fully recovered, but I can induce you to release your abilities once. You need to deal with another location.]

Because he wasn't disturbed by the White Queen, Mister Sinister didn't realize she had recovered some of her power. Instead, he directly entered Spider-Man's mind, his consciousness diving in.

He... saw no thoughts.

He only saw a massive web, and in each mesh of this web, different scenes flickered. Different Spider-Men appeared in different meshes. He hadn't connected to the mind of the Spider-Man in front of him; rather, he had stepped into Spider-Man's trap.

Because when his mind projected into Spider-Man's mind, he saw not only this large web, but also a colossal spider, easily over a hundred meters tall, walking on the Web of Destiny, spraying silk. It discovered Mister Sinister and looked at him.

That gigantic spider directly appeared before Sinister's mental form, raised one of its legs, and pierced Sinister's heart with its razor-sharp bristles.
