Mister Sinister swept through the X-Men in about a minute or two. He was very displeased with today's developments. The identity of Ajax offered him immense convenience, allowing him to inherit the legacies of Weapon X and Stryker.
More importantly, it allowed him to conceal many of the experiments Mister Sinister himself was conducting and attempting. It was well known that Weapon X could receive all sorts of support from the US military for human experiments on mutants. After all, it was nominally an internal US military project.
But now that he was exposed, the US military would wonder if Weapon X's achievements had been stolen by Mister Sinister, and many things would become very troublesome.
However, during those minute or two that Mister Sinister spent dealing with the X-Men, Peter had already taken off his upper suit and lay down on the gene-splicer. It was a human-sized metal container, and Peter found it incredibly familiar.
"Isn't this..."
"Yes, the prototype is the same surgical pod Captain America used for his operation."
Beast said as he drew a tube of blood from Peter, and then another from Cindy. Both of them gained their abilities after being bitten by the same spider, so their genetic makeup must have undergone similar mutations.
Now, Cindy's abilities were stable, so by using her genome as a reference, a sufficiently stable genetic model could be created and then corrected with the gene-splicer.
Unexpectedly, this instrument had been activated multiple times recently and had undergone similar genetic programming. Therefore, Beast was able to quickly find a solution, or rather, directly apply an existing model to create a suitable genetic model.
As the surgical pod began to close and draw power, several needles injected into Peter's body, and radioactive rays began to shine into the pod.
"This is Vita-Radiation. Captain also received this radiation during his surgery. Theoretically, this radiation can accelerate cell reorganization during unstable periods," Beast cheerfully explained, doing some popular science. "I don't know why, it seems future Super Soldier Serums, whether successful or failed, don't use it. Only this machine still does... Oh..."
Beast, upon discovering from the computer's information database that the most recent login was Mister Sinister's, secretly cursed, realizing something was terribly wrong.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing." Beast pretended to be unconcerned, reassuring Jubilee. "An old foe. Scott can handle him, but we need to watch out for a power cut here. It'll be troublesome if someone cuts the gene-splicer's power."
"I can discharge electricity!" Jubilee raised her hand, then realized her statement wasn't quite right. "Uh, I can release different colored sparks, like fireworks. Sometimes there are sparks. Will that work?"
"Show me your power. No problem. If the power goes out, direct your ability at this transformer."
Just as he finished giving instructions, the entire room went pitch black. Lee Chih-Han very promptly reconnected the current, making the room glow with colorful light.
A "clang" sound.
All three looked towards the doorway. A very strange sound had come from there. After listening for a while, they realized it was the elevator stopped at the door being forcibly dragged upwards. Judging solely from the sound, its speed far exceeded the normal ascent speed of an elevator.
Then came a deathly silence. All sounds vanished. The three stood there, waiting for something.
"I'll deal with him. Jubilee, you keep the splicer running!"
Beast took off his glasses, baring his teeth as he looked at the laboratory door, ready to pounce into battle at any moment.
As the laboratory door was brutally torn open, Mister Sinister slowly floated in. The moment Beast saw him, he directly pounced, but Mister Sinister merely waved his hand. Beast's blue fur began to recede. He started to transform into an ordinary human. Having lost his superhuman physique, he fell directly to the ground, knocked out by the pheromones Mister Sinister released.
"I'm very displeased with how you're treating my equipment. It's too rough."
Mister Sinister said, looking at Jubilee, who was powering the gene-splicer. He gave her a benevolent smile and extended his hand towards her.
"Can you give my property back, madam? Don't worry, you're not in danger."
Jubilee looked at the approaching Mister Sinister, somewhat at a loss. Fortunately, Cindy stepped in front of her, or more accurately, in front of Peter.
Mister Sinister found that Leech's ability wasn't working; the girl in front of him wasn't a mutant.
But it didn't matter. He first waved his hand, deflecting the incoming web with telekinesis. Then, without giving the other party a chance to attack, he placed his right hand beside his temple and began to use his self-edited telepathy to deal with his opponent.
The other party seemed to have undergone some anti-brainwashing training, but unfortunately, she was still very young. While Cindy shifted her focus to countering his telepathy, Mister Sinister directly used telekinesis to rip down the room's ceiling, pinning her underneath.
It certainly didn't finish her off, but it didn't matter. What Mister Sinister needed now was to shut down this gene-splicer.
He walked up to Lee Chih-Han, his hands clasped behind his back, smiling as he watched the sparks in her hands disappear. With that, everything would be over.
Would it be over?
The Vita-Radiation hadn't stopped emanating. White streaks of light still poured out from the metal chamber, and a continuous stream of electrical energy still kept the instrument working.
In the darkness, Mister Sinister looked at Lee Chih-Han.
The latter seemed to realize something and couldn't help but laugh.
"It's not me."
Under the influence of Mister Sinister's "Leech" ability, Lee Chih-Han didn't release any energy. At this moment, the gene-splicer no longer needed an external power source and could operate normally.
So where was this current coming from? There was only one answer: the person inside it was continuously providing bio-electricity to maintain the instrument's operation.
Like daylight, pure white lightning continuously burst forth from inside the gene-splicer. Electrical sparks began to fly around the room. Under Mister Sinister's astonished gaze, the gene-splicer's surgical pod slowly opened, and then, there was nothing inside.
Then, in the complete darkness, Mister Sinister felt a heavy blow to his chest. He was sent flying, his chest almost caved in.
He struggled to raise his head, still unable to see the person who had emerged from the gene-splicer. He only saw lightning, pure white lightning constantly leaping, slowly outlining a blurry human figure. Then, that figure leaped up and delivered a heavy punch towards him.
