"So, how'd you feel after surviving that?"
The nameless doctor stood before me. His expressions were interesting, even though he appeared to be calm, I could feel a certain excitement in his eyes. Couldn't really understand his excitement but something about him felt different.
[Chapter 3]
"Well, particularly I don't feel anything more than pain. I'm just dizzy with whatever the hell happened to me."
Not in the mood of trying to explain much.
"But that" pointing my finger in confusion towards the window
"What about that? Are those natural clouds?"
My heart raced to see the dark blue clouds again. They still kept the sky covered like it's been that way from the beginning of earth.
"Why is the sky like this?"
"I'm just a doctor, you expect me to know that?"
Despite his corny tone, I personally don't think he knows much either.
"The sky has been like this since 28th of November, only if we knew what God forsaken reason behind it" he continued in annoyance.
"Whatever it is, it should go away sooner or later," he added.
"Well that's out of the way tell me the situation of the train Incident" I asked.
"Welp about that, we have good news and bad news" he replied.
Hmm what a great way to start. I scoffed.
"Good and bad huh? Won't you introduce yourself first? doctor? Got any name or something?" I said while leaving a little laugh behind the last few words.
"I am Oliver Brown, I've been chosen for you Mr. Ken."
"Chosen?, why would you be chosen for a normal patient?"
Things are indeed more twisted than I thought it would be
"Well you see you're not that 'normal' you might assume you are"
"What do you mean?" I asked.
He just smiled.
"Interesting name Mr. Ken."
Questions. Just answer my god damn questions.
"So anyways. What's the bad news?." annoyed I asked.
His eyes looked a bit sceptical, as if he's marking his words carefully before speaking.
"When we found your body it was torn in half, maybe you don't have much memory of it, and right next moment we saw something weird, something that no one in this building could understand, you should check it out yourself." finishing his sentence he played a video.
"That can't be…"
"Yes Mr. Ken. That's you."
Never expecting this to be coming— like a shockwave. In the footage my body right after getting torn apart, sort of turned itself into a cocoon like structure made out of glass or crystals would be more accurate. I recoiled and quickly pulled up the gown.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?" I saw a very hard crystal type layer still covering my torso.
"Let me clear up your confusion, Mr. Ken, you were affected by something that even science has failed to explain."
"What does that mean?"
Confusion covered my senses, what is this, how is it there, why is it there? So many questions were popping up in my head.
"As I would like to say, this phenomenon could be a kind of virus," He said.
"Virus?" I asked.
"Yes, a virus that mutated you and... Well.." he rewinded the whole scene.
"There, you see that?" He pointed out the same monster that nearly ended the life within me.
"Look at yourself there, when he grabbed you, your body started producing sharp 'crystals' that's what tear his muscle fragments and left us with his flesh sample
We have taken your crystal and the flesh sample, and analyzed it to the very finest details… It turns out they are made of pure cells, the same type of cells that creates human skin. The way his flesh is generated is the same 'process' your body generated crystals"
Not being too shocked I said, "Okay so let me get this clear, that monster tried to kill me who also almost succeeded and the kind of weird power I have now is the same material as his?"
"Apparently yes" Oliver nodded
"Is this even reality at this point?" I scoffed
He looks at me for a seco–

[Two days later]
Two days later when I woke up on the bed, something weird had already taken place. Oliver disappeared. He was never found. Some people called police to investigate but the whole force was sent to face the monsters. Some also mentioned I was the last person at the scene. But how? What was I doing there? It's so foggy. Why did he vanish?
No one knew where he went or how he went or who took him or what exactly happened, neither was I sure even when I was the only unconscious witness of that exact situation. Even after a few investigations no one could find out what exactly happened. Cctv footage showed he never left the hospital. But if that's true. How did he flee?
For my conscience I don't remember much. I just passed out there. But I heard some things. A man. I am certain there was a man, he was saying something I can't quite recall. A man stood there calling Oliver. That's all I remember.
[Two days ago... In the very same hospital room.]
K'yan stood there, not moving an inch- but then suddenly he felt his body getting possessed by something which is not in his control.
"GIVE ME THE CAPSULE." he yelled not knowing what that means
"What?" Oliver's face expressed fear as soon as I said those words.
"Just give me the fucking capsule, OLIVER WATKINS BROWN!" How does K'yan know about Oliver's middle name when he never mentioned it.
"What the- how do you know? And about the capsule?"
K'yan grabbed his shirt and transformed his arm into a sharp crystal spear which indicated instant death on contact.
"Give me the capsule, NOW. OR DIE"
"I-it's in the next room" Oliver's scared. Anxious. Fear for his life.
K'yan dashed towards the next room.
(Few moments later...)
Oliver rushed to the next room to check what K'yan had done, only to find K'yan Lying on the ground and there he– a figure similar to K'yan's physique stood facing directly towards Oliver.
Oliver stopped dead in his tracks. Eyes filled with fear.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU" he yelled
"For what I am, for you it's existence." he said.
Darkened eyes he gazed on Oliver sending shivers down his spine, and a scotic smile– he asked.
"Ready for round 2? Oliver watkins?"
He grabbed his neck and–
[K'yan has no idea about this. The footage got destroyed leaving no traces of this]
5 days have passed since the train incident. The clouds are nowhere near going away. News reports described the deviation situation. Farmers having great loss, the resources are getting low, the main energy source. Our sun. Is no longer in contact with our reach. Day or night? Can't tell a single difference.
But we have bigger problems to face.
"Is this humanity's end? Are we talking our last breath on this planet? What is happening all over the world?" Said the news acor
"The great black out of what appears to be monsters in several areas. A new virus pandemic is on the way. We recommend you to go out as little as possible. Don't leave home without a mask, or protection. Even your closest friend can be flesh hungry monsters. Stay safe stay with us"
I've been curious. Why does this situation sound so nostalgic? Like I know what's going on but I'm not terrified as I should be. Why? How come I'm calm?
I have discovered some new changes, firstly I can generate these wired crystals out of my body. I can harden myself with crystals for resistance. Will it be enough to stop the monsters? How long will this go?
(Few minutes later)
I came to the rooftop for some fresh air. Thoughts of that weird black figure I saw that day and kept having the wired dreams with it now and then. Is it trying to talk with me? Hah it sounds so childish the 'virus' talking.
Wind flowing slowly as I looked at the city. Pitch black darkness with small little lights like dots. Smoke coming out of various houses. Broken buildings, probably monster attack. People in fear. Praying, temple bells ringing. Fire dancing through the streets of some. To normal eyes this should've been hard to see but I… I am no longer a human.
At a certain distance I can feel a 'monster' coming this way. I just stood there giving my cold gaze to the broken city. Looking down at my hands– transforming them into crystals. I have the power, I must stop them.
Is this it? Am I really a Monster? I stood there, feeling the monsters coming closer. People are screaming on the floor beneath me. Crying. Praying. And– a gunshot. Someone just killed themselves before they could die by the hands of a 'monster'. Poor souls.
Now it was my time to shine. Here we go
