Chapter 243 - C243 : Bete Meets Shurry

Alfia, Ardee, Hathor, Shurry, and Neze calmly walked through the streets, Ardee clung to Shurry's arm as they walked. The other two, Alfia, and Neze were both left in a position forced to watch as Ardee was continuing to hog him all to herself. Hathor was smiling and giggling, looking around for something.

"Lady Hathor, what are you looking for?" Neze asked, opting to distract herself from the lovey dovey actions she wasn't the target of for the moment.

"I figured it's about time I start making my reverse harem. I need to balance out my son's harem after all. It's a shame that it's hard to find men worthy of such a position."

"Heh, you'll find that difficult now, unless you find spirits, or gods to join you that is…" Neze said, thinking about it a little deeper than she thought she would.

Hathor looked at Shurry, and smiled, then turned away, and scoffed. "I'll find someone worthy, I'm sure of it!"

"Pfft, who? Zald?"

"Let's just forget the whole thing for now. We're heading to the guild first, right?"

"Yes, we agreed to finish things with this Harem business first. This woman, Rose? She will be the last."

Alfia spoke, clearly, and concisely, though there were a few questions.

"Shurry, what will you do about that promise then?"

"I'm letting them grow out of it. I made the promise with Seldas, not them. I've already asked Bokhoir to guide their training in a way that'll aid in deviating them from this false burden placed on their shoulders."

"And if that doesn't work?"

"I won't be going back on this. Despite how far I've come since that day, the thought of laying with an Amazoness churns my stomach… I'd rather fight Erebus again." Shurry responded, however his typical aura of terror did not erupt this time. "Though I will help them to grow into the best versions of themselves that they can be. Seldas treated them similarly, since she did so, and they spent the effort to come here… I'll do what I can."

"Pfft, you're really a big softy. It makes me wonder what ever caused Fenrir's initial slaughter through Tenkai…"

"It was exactly what happened a few weeks ago… A god dared to kill my pup. And so it was war. This time, I'll make sure to only target Erebus…"

"Well that's quite the gap you need to overcome, my son."

"Say, Mother, why don't you ask Lord Ra to come down too? He seemed like a sunny type of guy."

"Pfft, he's probably having a field day beating Erebus right about now."

They reached the central square, and looked down the main street which had been split in two completely separate halves right down the middle.

"It's incredible you were able to do this much."

"I could have done more, but I started running out of steam towards the end. And breaking through that barrier used up all of the energy I'd been building up for the last few years. I got quite a bit of it back recently, but I think my chances against the dragon are about the same as they were during the fight with Erebus."

On the western side of the central plaza, a god with long chestnut colored hair, wearing well made clothes stood looking directly at Hathor, and then his gaze shifted to Shurry…

"Bete, I was right. The wolf walks west."

Bete, a member of this god's familia took a moment from doting on his woman to see that his god's words were indeed correct. His expression widened with both fear, and utter awe. Shurry could tell there was a new thing to deal with, and so he had a slight change of plans. Just as soon as they were about to leave the central square, Shurry stopped, there was a younger Bete now standing in front of him.

"Alpha, you're the alpha right!?"

"Yes… That is what I am, but it seems your god over there has a different opinion on what my name should be. What is it you want?"

"I… I need to leave the city for a while. I have to avenge my clan."

"You wish to ask me to protect your family while you are away?"

Bete was sweating, nervous as all hell. "I hate to admit it, but I am too weak to do it myself."

"No, you're not. You're stronger than you have yet to realize. What I'm upset with is how little you think of me."

"Huh?"

"You are a werewolf, are you not?"

"I am! A proud one!"

"Then why bother asking, you are in my pack, whether you've realized it or not." Shurry smirked. "So go avenge your clan, with the knowledge that your familia, and the lover of yours will remain safe. And one more thing, go with the moon shining upon your soul."

Bete's eyes flashed as he felt something shift from deep within.

"Don't abuse this power, you'll only get one shot at using it. So use it wisely."

"I- I will win. I will avenge them!"

"Good. Now make sure you grow up to be a good papa, alright."

Shurry chuckled, and started walking by Bete, the rest of the group following suit, Ardee gave a giggly wave to a brown haired young human woman.

Bete, confused by everything that just happened, chuckled to himself. He then looked at the woman he'd been doting on earlier, and realized that he'd actually been fore playing in the streets, and Shurry just told him to have puppies. The quickness with how red his face went, set a world record. His face was still red as could be by the time he went back to his god's side.

"Are you alright?" Selina, the brown hair, blue eyed young human woman asked.

"Huh? Oh, yeah… He just said something…"

"Come back from your trip alive, you won't be able to have pups otherwise. And I'll be stronger too!"

"Huh, Oh, yeah." … "Wait, pups?!"

"Pfft, Lord Vidar told me what he said." Selenia giggled, cutely blushing in a halfway teasing manner. "Come back victorious, and I'll… Well, go wild all night."

Vidar sighed.

"Bete, I don't like this. That's Fenrir-"

"He is the Alpha, he just gave me the ability to transform once without the moon. I trust him. I wonder if I could ever get as strong-"

"Bete, if you want to acquire that kind of strength… You'll need to put in more effort than you have ever put in before, even then-"

"It doesn't matter if it's impossible, I still have to be the leader of my clan. Matching an Alpha… If the stories were half as true, it would be nearly impossible."

"Don't lose heart Bete, go avenge your clan. I'll conquer my own fears here…"

Bete, hearing his god's words, and being given his blessing, took off. Running towards a painful, and familiar destination. His old homeland. Selenia will be safe even while I'm gone. I won't lose anyone else, never again. I am allowed to love!
