Upon meeting up, Maxim began issuing orders. "Guild members, get to the middle of the arena, Shurry, tell the wolves to help protect them from stray monsters. Everyone else, form up, carve these monsters up! Supporters, focus resource collection!"
Shurry howled the command to his wolves. And in seconds, the guild members, along with the few supporters designated to setup duty, began setting up the encampment in the arena's center.
"Why the center? We're surrounded like this?"
"Shut up, and work. This was the plan Sir Maxim and the others came up with. Surely this is the best plan."
In moments of work, a section of the outer wall had been raised, capable of blocking the majority of ranged attacks like the poison needles. They moved on to the next section, building the outer wall of the encampment had eventually finished. Next they moved onto setting up the deflector lines, it was basically just Goliath's hardened skin, stretched from the top of the outer wall, down to the ground. Its primary goal was to stop the needles from getting through… It began proving its value in a matter of seconds… The second goal was to create a collection stream of these needles, since their toxins were able to make some fairly expensive antidotes.
While the construction of the encampment was under way, the endless fight was also ongoing. The lower level adventurers were all starting to exhibit signs of exhaustion, ones beyond the ability of Shurry's light to recover.
"All of you, fall back, level 4s get some rest first. Level 3s help finish off the encampment's construction." Maxim ordered.
"Oh, does this mean we can finally go all out?" Zald smirked, as his blade sliced through a dozen monsters. He took a powerful step forward.
"Empress, Zald, Lyca, Gale! Push them back!"
"I may be a little rusty from those 9 months I was down for. But, I'll do my best. Don't let me out shine you."
"Oh shut it, like my storms will lose to you, Empress."
"Oh ho? Is that a challenge I hear?"
"You too Lyca?"
"Tell you what, if you can outperform Empress, I'll do one thing you want."
"Really!? Don't you dare go back on that!"
Maxim, and Zald laugh their assess off as they slice through tons and tons of monsters.
"Hey Lyca, you know that Gale's been eyeing your body for quite a while now… And he's definitely going to take advantage of this. He's like the old dog Zeus."
"Why do you think I set such a high bar? Don't let me down, captain."
"Why you… It was bad enough when I did it… Fine. No holds barred." Empress drew her second sword, and fully released an aura-like glow. "Come on Gale. Let's see if you managed to pull close enough? Remember, I'm level 9."
"Oh yeah! I can do that too!" Gale emitted the same glow. "See! You're not so special!"
Empress, after a single destructive flick of her wrist, giggled. "Awe, that's cute, you managed to push it to mastery while I was relaxing. But that's not enough!"
"I will win! THIS IS MY ROMANCE!"
Shurry watched from above, as all of his prey kept getting annihilated before he got the chance to eat. "YOU'RE ALL SO MEAN! STOP WASTING GOOD MEAT LIKE THIS!"
"Ahahaha! You'll have to take it first, Shurry. But you should rest first."
"I swear, that boy eats more food than the city…"
"He probably could if he tried. But even then, that's a lot of food."
A long while later, the battle of wills between the strongest of the two familias had risen to its climax. All 6 of the members… The next strongest being Caotan, though she had a different desire to have met if she managed to win.
Gale, a master of the war axe, and used lightning magic to enhance himself, had finally started to reach his limits. Of which, were nowhere close to Empress.
"Damn it, Fine, if this is my limit, I'm going to make a big show of it!"
"You better not do something stupid."
Gale, didn't listen. And in his arrogance, ended up destroying 20% of the colosseum's landscape. After which he promptly fell to his butt, and laughed. "See that!"
"You really are stupid!" Maxim shouted in beratement.
"Shurry, raise shielding around the encampment… NOW!" Empress shouted.
"Okay!" Shurry wagged his tail, excited he might finally get to fight after waiting for hours, watching all his food stolen from under him… Literally.
It wasn't long before the dungeon quaked. And the sound of an angry roar, unlike any other, reverberated through the dungeon. And then, it spawned…
"Shit, This is the worst monster to spawn… Why couldn't it have been a Delphyne instead." Caotan grumbled.
Shurry, was too excited, and had been waiting for the chance to find his own prey for far too long now. And so when the thing spawned… He sorta launched into action right away.
"Shurry, get back here!"
Lyca's call was far too late. He'd already gone wild with hunger. His only desire now, food. That's all he could think about.
However, his instincts were strong. Extremely sharp. And before making direct contact, Shurry transformed into his full wolf form, the supersized version. He was now about as big as the monster who'd just spawned.
A guild member, scared seeing the sudden ridiculous change… Asked… "What is that thing?"
"Jugg… Juggernaut… Maxim!"
"I know, I know." Maxim was about to go take care of the juggernaut, however, he noticed something in the distance. "Hang on… He's not having a hard time…"
Zald scoffed. "Really, Maxim? You thought Shurry, would have a problem with that thing? He's basically one of those things himself. You've seen how he moves. This is the perfect thing for him. But, we should probably let him eat afterwards."
"Agreed…"
Giant wolf form Shurry, and the Juggernaut, engaged in direct physical confrontation, a battle that traversed the floor. Both of them ate monsters as they fought. Shurry got angrier every time the juggernaut ate his prey. The two disappearing, and re-appearing from the colosseum. Their rumble and tussle lasted for a matter of an hour, before finally Shurry delivered the final chomp on the Juggernaut's neck… The monster vanished…
"What? Where did the meat go?"
"Hey Shurry, why don't you cover that idiot Gale's spot for a while. There'll be plenty of meat for ya that way."
"Yay! HUNT, PREY!"
Gale was brought inside the encampment, and forced to undergo the teasing he rightly deserved for the embarrassment he just caused. And rested so he could return to fighting whenever needed. I really shouldn't have gotten lost in the moment… I knew destroying that much would spawn that hellish thing.
