I walked out on Declan without answering his question, and I did not return to the room until it was late in the night, when I was sure he had left. Three counts in a roll but that was three days ago, and I have not heard or seen him since, until now when he asked Nanisca to summon me.
I should probably prepare for another whip or anything worse than that, I thought to myself as I pulled the door open, and stepped out of the room, into the kitchen where Declan was standing, waiting for me.
He was alone, I noted, not sure whether it meant something good or not, and he had no whip which also did not mean that I was safe.
"Good morning D–sir." I greeted with uncertainty when I got close to him, and as I half expected, he did not respond or show that he heard me. He only stared strangely at me, as if he was searching for something on my face.
