As much as I hated Declan, the thought that he had just saved me from getting scarred on my face was stuck in my head, and I was sure it wouldn't leave anytime soon.
I was still coughing, Nanisca's hold on my neck had been nothing but aggressive as if she planned on strangling me should her plan to disfigure my face fail. Nanisca was responding to Declan but I could not hear what she was saying because of my coughing which would not stop, but I could see her fidgeting, and her lips quavering which despite myself was a good one.
The coughing stopped after some time but continued right after until Declan gestured for Nanisca and I to go with him, led the way back to the kitchen. We got to the kitchen, but Declan was moving towards the adjoining room so I followed from behind him while Nanisca trailed after us rather reluctantly. The air was fresh now, and instantly filled my lungs so that the coughing ceased, and for real this time.
