Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Return to Kashyyyk

Jayden slept while Vos and Ventra took care of the travel. The three of them stayed in the cockpit to deal with any unexpected events.

The galaxy was not as safe as one thinks, even when they are going through hyperspace.

It should be noted that the space lanes shift, or there could be a natural disaster that temporarily blocks the existing lines, such as a meteor or a star collapse that could block them permanently.

So, even if the spaceship was going through a lane, the ship would be equipped to sense the dangers along the path.

It was not just these natural disasters that one should be worried about. If the information regarding the disaster was not spread, then there could be criminal elements like the pirates, who can attack the disoriented ships that broke away from the hyper lanes.

Though the Republic existed for almost twenty-five thousand years, there is no proper technology that can safely pull a ship from hyperspace without causing any damage. That would give enough chance for the pirates to capture and loot the travellers.

So, the three felt the need to be ready for any issues that could arrive at any moment.

"Ayla, it looks like your padawan could have become a good thief if he didn't join the Jedi Order. He could have become someone noteworthy in the Black Markets", Vos chuckled as he spoke.

Ayla Ventra sighed, "If things go on like this, it would be truly troublesome for both of us".

"Yes, it seems like it would be", Vos laughed.

"So, how are we going to report this?" he asked.

It would be stupid to report that they stole the egg from some black market collector. Though it was the right thing to do, many in the council and senate don't see it that way.

Many senators have black market connections. On the surface, they act as if they are godly and saintly figures, but behind the scenes, they do what makes them rich. Whether the act they perform was right or wrong doesn't matter to them. Only profits matter to many of them.

There is a high chance that the collector they robbed could have contact with one of the senators, either directly or indirectly. Even if a senator is not in their pocket, a few officials should be.

So, filing a report about the theft that they participated in would be troublesome.

"First, let's return the egg. Then we would sit down with the Wookies and prepare a report that wouldn't incriminate us", Vos chuckled a little.

He was someone who always did things outside of the lines drawn by the Jedi, but he had his own lines. He wouldn't do certain things, no matter what.

It was why, though he fell to the dark side, he was still able to return to the light, unlike Anakin, who almost killed Padme because he thought that she led Obi-Wan to his position on Mustafar, where he was committing a lot of war crimes a few moments ago.

"You were right. We need to coordinate with the Wookies to make sure that we report almost the same. The question is, are they willing to accept?" Ayla raised a question.

There is no guarantee that the Wookies would accept it. Maybe they can keep the theft as a thank you for stopping the destruction, but no one is one hundred percent sure.

"Why shouldn't we report the mission as it is master?" Secura suddenly raised a question.

She kept quiet and observed as a padawan should, and only asked when she had a doubt.

"Aayla, things in the adult world are not as they appear to be. They are quite complicated. While the Jedi were supposed to be serving the Force, the galaxy and its people, and the Republic was supposed to be a tool for that, the scenario changed with time".

"The Senate became corrupt while the Order became arrogant and ignorant. They started to do things their own way and forget about how that would affect others, which made us kind of villains in the minds of the people, especially because we started to act as dogs of the senate", Vos sighed as he explained to his padawan.

"What does that have to do with the current situation?" Secura asked, still confused by what was happening.

"Those black markets, most of them exist because many of the republic's higher-ups, even some senators, support them in the dark. What we did kind of damaged their profits, and they wouldn't like that. In recent times, the Council, instead of making decisions independently, was giving a way for the Senate to take full control of the Order".

"Many greedy senators see us as an obstacle in their way to earn profits and would like to see us collapse, and something like this could become a weapon in their hands, no matter the reason behind that, they would turn it against us".

"In this galaxy, Justice exists only on paper. In reality, that would only be possible if one has true power, which the order as of late is lacking", Ayla Ventra said.

Aayla Secura slowly understood what was what and how things happened in the galaxy.

Sh enooded, "I understand, masters. Thank you for clarifying my doubts".

A few Hours later...

Ayla knocked on the door, "Jayden, we have arrived at Kashyyyk", she spoke from outside the room.

"I am up, master", a voice came from behind the door a minute later. The door opened, revealing Jayden, who had just woken up from a deep sleep.

He may be a genius but he was still a kid of ten years age.

His Force Potential might be high, but his body is still weak and using Force and his skills for such a long duration burned him out. He fell asleep and didn't wake up until his master came to wake him up as they reached their destination.
