The Children's Gift
***Arin's POV***
Below us, the earth exploded.
A huge crack split the cave floor, and I tightened my grip on my babies. I saw something through the opening that stopped my heart in its tracks.
An eye. larger than our whole cave. older than time itself. It was staring directly at us.
With her new light-dark form fluttering with fear, Queen Althara whispered, "THE CREATOR." It's what gave rise to the original Unity. When they disobeyed, it destroyed them.
Reality twisted around us as the giant eye blinked. All of a sudden, we were outside the cave. There were dying galaxies all around us as we floated in space.
A voice suddenly boomed from everywhere, "I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YOU." THE LAST CHILDREN OF UNITY. Either you serve me or you're unmade.
My children showed no signs of fear. I should have been concerned about that, but I was too scared to be rational.
