Chapter 25 - Suspicious

Crescent couldn't believe her eyes. This was the best way to get acquainted to him. There was another notice adjacent to it, giving the requirements of the selection.

It must be an appropriate topic, not a sensitive one.

When they had to get the admission into this university, at that time, Crescent was helped by Mr Walter in writing the research papers. She still had a few of them.

Crescent could tell that it would be hard to get selected for it. As almost all the girls earlier seemed to be wishing to be his assistant.

As she stood in front of the board, her eyes took in the scenario of outside through the window. Her focus shifted to the spot of accident. She had heard from Charlie that the girl had died.

At the same time, she saw a very familiar car pulling into that place. She went to the window and a man came out of the passenger seat. He was adorned in black suit with a wire attached to an earbud in his ear.

He opened the back door and another man came out.

Crescent stared as Mr Walter walked inside the prohibited area now. The police was patrolling that area and trying their best to keep the students away from that place.

This incident had definitely caused an uproar!

If Mr Walter came here, it must have been a serious matter.

Crescent had already ditched the classes for today. She had to go back to the dormitory to fix research papers, however, before that she had to make a visit to another place.

She had been thinking about it for a while now, if the death was caused by a wild animal and if it came from the back-wall of the library, the broken part of the wall couldn't have been enough.

Crescent wanted to keep that place a secret but if that was really the cause of it all and it was putting the safety of the others at stake, she would rather tell the others about them.

But for that, she would first analyse if it was the issue or not.

So Crescent got down and moved to the library. The way to the library fell on the other side of that site of incident. So she did not bump into Mr Walter.

Again, as she stepped into the small alley, there was no one here.

It was mostly isolated.

Taking a stick from the side, she used it to push the grass aside to look at the mud.

There should have been either bent grass or the prints in the mud.

There was nothing as such.

She carefully went to that broken part of the wall. It was the second time she was here during the day.

And the wall stood as it was. That broken part was from the middle, forming a gap which could pass only a thin person like her.

From no side it would be able to accompany a wild animal. There were assumptions that it might have been an hyeana, as their habitat fell in the same area as the university.

But this gap couldn't accompany it.

Crescent went back and eventually concluded that this was not the place used by that wild animal.

First of all, there was no sign.

Secondly, if that wild animal had came from here, it would have most probably moved towards the main entrance. As that was the path straight from here.

Going to the dormitory areas was plainly out of the option. It was totally on the other end. Yes unless that wild animal had been roaming for quite a while and finding a way around.

The latter didn't really make any logic to her.

Relieved, she got back to the dormitory. Misty was still attending the classes so after a long while, Crescent got the room to herself.

Opening her side of cabinet, Crescent took out the black file. She brought out the papers and settled them down on the table. Just then, her phone rang.

It was Mr Walter. She had been expecting the call since the time she saw him through the window.

"Hello?"

"Crescent? I was in the university."

"I know. I saw the car earlier." She softly spoke. She knew it must be Mrs Walter who would have told him to check up on her.

It was not that Mr Walter did not like her or something. Over the years, he had come up on terms with the reality that he might not be able to become a father. So it didn't matter to him even when she began living with them.

Suddenly for him to become a father of a twenty-year old girl wouldn't be easy. He was still awkward about it.

"You could have come up."

"I thought you were busy."

"Its fine. If you don't have any lecture right now, you can come to the Visitor's Room."

"I will be there in five minutes." Crescent pursued her lips and ended up moving to the Visitor's Hall.

-

"What are you doing here?"

"For the fun." Cynric rolled his eyes as he bit an apple.

The man with the grey eyes stared into his eyes, and suddenly Cynric was clutching his head with the pain. "What the fu** is wrong with you? Stop that!"

He rolled down onto the floor from the couch where he had been sitting casually till a few minutes back and watching Netflix.

"Arghhh! Fu** you! A**hole!" Another scream was followed by it before the man with grey eyes normally moved his gaze away. Casually, he went to sit on the same couch where Cynric had been sitting a while ago.

Cynric was curled up on the floor. His breaths heavy as he laid on his back with an aimless look at the ceiling. His head was still dizzy with the after-effects of such a great welcome he received.

"What the hell was that for?" Cynric grumbled.

The man sitting on the couch simply turned on the news channel.

"...it is a breaking news! A girl is reported to have died in the premises of the University of Lilac after being killed by a wild animal. It is also to be noticed that no CCTV cameras captured the incident or any wild animal. Coincidentally, last night, electricity was cut in the university."

"The management of the university has commented that there was no electricity for two nights straight in the campus due to technical issues. It has, to some extent, decreased the suspicion which arose at the university earlier."
