Chapter 28 - Sylvaran.

The media had surrounded the gates. They were trying their very best to somehow get an entry inside which was impossible at the moment.

Yesterday, a message was sent to all the students through email to not send the pictures to the outside world. Otherwise, strict actions will be taken against them.

Going to the next class, which was Ancient History of Greeks, Crescent had to thank God that this time, at least, she did not have to go all the way up to the fifth floor.

It was on ground level.

Crescent was careful in searching for a seat where Charlie could not come up and sit. So she went to the vacant seat beside a girl with ginger hair.

That girl politely nodded at her and so did she. For the rest of the class, Crescent zoned in and out of her thoughts. It was almost as if she was here only for the attendance.

By the time of lunch, Crescent was done with her classes for the day and it was the time to finally go back and read all the books she had gotten from the library.

Quickly having lunch together with Misty, she bid her bye because Misty still had classes left for the day and went to her room.

She freshened up and went to sit on her bed. The weather outside had turned cloudy. Even while she was coming over, the wind was blowing along with the soft pitter-patter of the rain.

Crescent had three books, two of which were still quite thin as compared to the third one.

She opened the first one. She went over each and every word extremely carefully. The Lilac Town had always been a very flourishing town, just that it wasn't always called this.

Sylvaran, the ancient name of The Lilac Town. Sylvaran meant the Silver Grove. It was given its name by the first king who ruled here.

She had already known it.

Crescent was bewildered in the first few days after she opened her eyes. She remember asking Mrs Walter as to where was she and the reply she had gotten was not Sylvaran.

'Sylvaran was a home to advanced people even at that time. They maintained their livelihood while practising sustainability. It was a futuristic concept at the time.'

Crescent could probably guess why they practised sustainability. She turned the pages and read through very basic history, mostly focusing on the environmental elements.

Even though there was not what she wanted, Crescent did not leave the book before completing it.

Although she did not get the direct hint, certain points, such as the practice of sustainability, the decline in the population of animals, and the plantations of Angel Oak Trees, did confirm that she was going in the right direction.

Crescent picked up the next book almost at the same time as when Misty came back.

"You know what?" Misty threw her bag aside and rushed to get to Crescent. Sitting on her knees while holding the bed, Misty whispered. "I ended up coming across an incredibly incredulous sight."

"And that is...?"

"Remember the girl who died? I saw her parents today."

"So?"

"They were crying, like very badly while moving to their car. I was in the parking lot sketching when they came alone after a meeting with the Principal." Misty was drawing her hands in all the directions while explaining.

Crescent knew it was bad what happened with the girl but what could they even do?

However, Misty looked extremely anxious as she said, "I couldn't watch them crying, so I thought about going to console. However, the moment I was about to get close to them, I saw a weird thing."

Misty, by now, was on her feet and pacing back and forth in the room. "I don't know how to explain it but I am sure this was real! It wasn't my fragment of imagination."

Crescent put down her book and got up. She held the Misty at a place, "What did you see?" Crescent did think for a second that probably Misty was playing a prank as she had learnt about her goofy nature within a few days, but it did not look like that any longer.

"I found the sight of that same girl standing on the second floor of the IT building which is visible through the parking lot."

She let out the words blankly.

The quietness grew in the room.

"Was it a ghost?" She was unsure beyond explanation. Misty was not exactly scared about it because she did not believe in ghosts. Even at this moment, she was not believing. "But she looked too real."

Crescent suddenly thought of a few possibilities.

"Do you believe me?" Misty again asked.

She was silent not because she did not believe what Misty said but because she knew that she was exactly at the right place.

"I do."

Misty was relieved. Only she knew how much strange she was feeling the entire time. The girl stood there only for a few seconds but she was there.

Misty had seen it.

The girl was pulled back by another hand. It couldn't be just her imagination!

What if it was the result of some fake murder display for the world only? What if it went deeper than that?

Misty knew that she had read too many mystery novels but she was sure that she was not merely bringing it up into the real world, trying to compare just for the fun or excitement of it.

She was seriously concerned!

"Shall we tell this to anyone?"

"Who would even belive?" Crescent sat on the edge of her bed.

"You are right. Can we do one thing?" Misty looked at her expectantly.

"What?"

"Shall we go to the security office and tell them that I have lost something in the parking lot? We could check the CCTV Cameras!"

The idea was...not bad.

After all, even Crescent needed the surety.

A complete surety.
