On the other side…
"Sir Val, why are you running?"
I had an awkward look on my face as I continued walking away from the person that was following me.
Since coming back with the middle aged demon who was named Eru, I had been pushed into the politics of the demon race.
Unlike the human race where they had a system based on nobility, the demon race was more scattered in that they followed those with power.
The ones that were in charge of the demon race were those that came from powerful tribes.
In a sense, it was like a gathering of tribes rather than a kingdom being ruled over by nobles.
But the demons were stronger than the average human, so they didn't have a problem with this system of ruling. They didn't need to group together for protection like the humans did.
In this demon society, it was survival of the fittest.
That was the reason why I was ignoring the person that was following me.
Everyone had their own way of surviving and the one that was following behind me had a strange way of survival.
It was that this demon tribe's way of survival wasn't something that was easy to deal with.
The one that was following behind me was a beautiful girl with long flowing black hair, big black eyes, and full purple lips. She had a figure that would make any man go crazy with a single look.
However, she also had the features of a demon in terms of purple skin and horns on her head.
That proved that she was a succubus.
This beautiful girl was Yena, the leader of the succbus tribe.
She was one of the few demon tribe leaders that supported me as the demon king once Eru brought me back.
However, the reason why she was supporting me was the reason why I was hesitant to approach her.
For the succubus tribe, they only had one reason for approaching anyone.
It was so they could suck out the life essence of that person for their own benefit.
Was there anything more enticing to the succubus tribe than the life essence of the demon king?
While I was still a fledgling demon king, there was no better chance than to approach the demon king than right now when I still didn't have any influence. That was why Yena and the succubus tribe chose to follow me.
"That fool of light gets a beautiful saintess and the main body gets twin maids while I'm stuck with this girl who wants to completely suck me dry. How is this fair?" I couldn't help complaining secretly, though there was still a stoic look on my face.
Seeing that I wasn't saying anything, Yena came closer and even went forward as if she was going to press her body against me.
But in the end, I moved out of the way before she could reach me.
I looked at her with a calm look as I said, "Can you get serious? This is important."
Yena revealed a faint smile when she heard this, but she didn't say anything in response.
The smile on her face was more than enough of a response.
Shaking my head, I said, "For now, I'll consider it if you help me get two demon tribes to follow me."
Yena didn't seem moved at all when she heard this, but I said, "I don't need the succubus tribe at all. It's your choice if you want to follow me or not."
It was only then that she said with the same smile, "Your majesty, of course we will follow you. It's only natural that we as demons would follow the demon king."
I just shook my head and ignored her after she said this.
After all, there was nothing to gain from actually saying anything to her.
Instead, what I should focus on was what was going to happen after this.
It was more important to think about what to say to the leaders of the demon tribes that I was about to meet.
After all, this would decide what I would do next as the demon king.
Even if I had become the demon king, it wasn't as if I had the full support of the different demon tribe leaders. In fact, it even seemed like they had set me up as the intermediary demon king so they could focus on fighting each other.
So that meant that I had to figure out a way to reign them all in.
It really was a lot of work.
I blamed everything on Eru.
Even though he had brought me back, it didn't seem like he was actually planning on helping establish me as the demon king.
I had seen the influence that he had with the different demon tribe leaders, so I knew that there was much more than met the eye with him.
Only…I couldn't remember where this character came from.
As far as I could remember, there wasn't a character like this in the game…
Taking a deep breath, I threw these thoughts out of my mind as I focused on the doors in front of me.
Behind these doors was the real battle.
Behind these doors were the demon tribe leaders.
When I opened the door, their eyes immediately turned to look at me.
All of them had different expressions when they looked at me, but it was clear that all of them were acting for their own benefit.
There wasn't a single one of them that truly thought about serving me.
But that was just how it was.
I could still remember the first day that Eru brought me to this place.
"This is the future demon king."
The moment that he said this, everyone looked at me with cold gazes as if they were looking down on me.
Of course, I knew exactly what to do when they all looked at me like this.
So the same red light as before appeared around me.
