Banging on the door for minutes she could no longer count, Selina staggered back, her chest rising and falling with mounting frustration.
The corridor remained silent. No footsteps.
No voices.
No response as if they world had ceased to exist around her.
She spun sharply, biting hard on her lower lip, one hand pressing against her hip while the other shoved into her hair.
She bent forward, bracing herself, fighting the urge to break down. A cold weight pressed on her chest as the situation's tension simmered, sending a familiar, haunting whisper through her mind.
