Shinnō scanned Sasame and the others.
Appearances alone couldn't reveal true strength or identity.
The Zero-Tails—a monstrous entity formed from dark chakra—was the power source of the Sky Country's fortress.
No matter what, it couldn't fall into someone else's hands.
"Who exactly are you people?" Shinnō asked, puzzled. "And how did you learn about the Zero-Tails?"
"The Zero-Tails doesn't belong to you," Sasame replied with a mocking smile. "You stole the techniques from Konoha to create it. You don't even deserve the name 'Shinnō.'"
Shinnō's face twisted with hatred, his eyes gleaming with undisguised killing intent.
The fall of the Hidden Sky Village was tied to the Second Shinobi World War—especially to Konoha.
His reason for building the Sky Country fortress was to destroy the Five Great Nations and dominate the shinobi world.
The moment Sasame mentioned Konoha, he became Shinnō's enemy.
And now, he was mocking him on top of that.
"Kill them!" Shinnō suddenly roared.
In an instant, numerous Sky shinobi emerged from all sides, surrounding the group.
Uchiha Shisui and the others immediately tensed, shifting into combat stances.
"I think you should go activate your fortress instead," Sasame said, glancing around.
Though the Sky shinobi were numerous, only a handful were jonin-level.
Shisui alone could handle them all.
"Who the hell are you?!" Shinnō's furious expression faltered slightly.
The Sky Country fortress was as much of a top-secret project as the Zero-Tails.
Even among the Sky shinobi, very few knew about it.
Even if Sasame was a Konoha shinobi, he should only know about the Zero-Tails at most—not the fortress.
Was there a traitor among us?
A cold glint flashed in Shinnō's eyes. "Capture them alive."
He changed his orders.
If he could take them prisoner, he'd get all the answers he needed.
As soon as he spoke, the surrounding Sky shinobi pulled out weapons resembling water guns.
With a trigger pull, multiple shuriken shot out from the barrels—shuriken launchers, just like in the movie.
"Scatter!" Shisui immediately commanded.
In such a confined space, facing Sky shinobi armed with shuriken launchers was undeniably dangerous.
He wasn't worried for himself, but the others might not fare as well.
Sasame also dodged to the side.
His goal wasn't to kill them—it was to force them to activate the Sky Country fortress.
This spectacle was too good to miss.
He could use his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan to control them, but that would affect his Fate Points gain.
Better to take it slow.
"Mikoto," Sasame patted her head, "they're perfect for practice. Kill them."
Uchiha Mikoto obediently stepped forward.
Since the Sky shinobi outnumbered them, and Sasame was clearly the leader, two jonin targeted him.
The younger Sky shinobi formed hand seals and spat out several bursts of wind-based chakra.
The older one performed the same motions but unleashed a massive fireball—the classic Uchiha technique, Fire Release: Great Fireball.
It seemed Shinnō had stolen it.
But this jutsu was simple enough that many outside the Uchiha clan could use it.
Mikoto took a deep breath, still nervous.
As the clan leader's wife, she had never been on a battlefield.
Her combat experience was limited to missions during her genin and chūnin days.
Fighting jonin was a first for her.
Out of respect, she activated her three-tomoe Sharingan.
Instantly, the wind bullets that had been blindingly fast now seemed sluggish.
Slow enough for her to dodge.
With a few graceful movements, she effortlessly evaded them.
But against the fireball, she didn't retreat.
Instead, she inhaled—and spat out her own Great Fireball.
"Sharingan?!" the older Sky jonin gasped in shock.
The Uchiha clan's reputation was well-known across the shinobi world.
The younger jonin's face also twisted in disbelief.
Hadn't the Uchiha clan been wiped out?
Why were they here now?
A heavy tension settled over them.
The Uchiha were infamous precisely because of their overwhelming strength.
The two fireballs collided, exploding into a shower of sparks that ignited the surroundings.
They were still inside the village.
The flames quickly drew the attention of the villagers.
But as civilians, they could only retreat in fear from the battling shinobi.
Sasame raised an eyebrow, then stomped his foot, creating a hole in the roof.
He dropped down and saw Shinnō trying to escape with a red-haired girl.
"Put her down," Sasame said flatly.
"You're dead!" Shinnō spun around, his previously frail arm suddenly bulging with explosive muscle, his punch creating a sonic boom.
This was the power of his forbidden medical technique—Body Revival.
In another world, this would've driven people mad with envy.
No gym needed—just instant perfection.
Bam!
Sasame caught his fist effortlessly.
"Impossible!" Shinnō's eyes widened before he let out a furious scream.
Even with Body Revival active, someone had stopped his punch with pure physical strength?
No chakra, no jutsu—just raw power.
In Shinnō's mind, his forbidden techniques—Body Revival and Body Reincarnation—created the ultimate physique.
Now, that belief was crumbling.
"Nothing's impossible. You just lack imagination," Sasame said before flicking his wrist.
Shinnō's body flew backward, smashing through walls before skidding to a stop meters away.
Sasame stepped forward, shielding the unconscious Amaru.
At this point in time, she suffered from a strange illness that isolated her in the village.
Later, Shinnō would "cure" her, earning her undying loyalty—and even twisted affection.
Sasame glanced at the old, white-haired man and shook his head.
Only in this world could something so absurd happen.
Shinnō scrambled to his feet, his wounds from the impact already healing.
His face had visibly rejuvenated.
But seeing his Sky shinobi losing, he suppressed his rage and fled.
Without enough dark chakra, he needed the fortress to stand a chance.
And after that punch, he knew he couldn't beat Sasame as he was now.
"Shisui, follow him. Memorize his actions—but don't interfere, no matter what happens," Sasame ordered as he watched Shinnō retreat.
Shisui immediately disengaged and vanished.
By now, the battle was nearing its end.
The Sky shinobi weren't particularly strong, and without their flight advantage, they were even weaker.
Only Mikoto remained fighting.
Sasame stopped Uchiha Izumi and the others from intervening.
The two Sky jonin, though confused, saw their only hope in capturing Mikoto.
Their attacks intensified.
Wind Release: Pressure Damage!
A high-density blast of wind erupted, collapsing the building beneath them.
Amid the dust and debris, the older jonin appeared behind Mikoto, thrusting a kunai toward her vitals.
Clang!
The blade was deflected.
Before he could react, Mikoto's foot lashed out—
—and crushed his family jewels.
The sheer force produced a spray of blood.
The jonin collapsed, unconscious.
Sasame sucked in a sharp breath.
What the hell?
Had his influence somehow warped Mikoto's mind?
She was always so docile around him.
…Well, not always.
At night, she was downright feral—pushing herself to exhaustion, squeezing out every last bit of stamina.
She'd often be bedridden for hours afterward.
With the older jonin down, only the younger one remained.
He tried to flee, but Uchiha Izumi and the others had him surrounded.
Under the gaze of so many Sharingan, he had no choice but to keep attacking Mikoto.
But the pressure shattered his focus.
Mikoto tilted her head—then vanished with the Body Flicker Technique.
A kunai plunged into his kidney from behind.
As the jonin screamed, she followed up with a punch—
—splattering his brains across the ground.
Blood splashed onto her clothes.
But instead of horror, Mikoto felt an odd sense of liberation.
She'd been suppressing herself for too long.
The Uchiha were inherently obsessive, unhinged even.
Before, her weakness had kept those tendencies in check.
But as she neared the Mangekyō Sharingan, her true nature began surfacing.
Once unleashed, she'd descend into the same madness as the rest of her clan.
Snapping back to reality, Mikoto's expression instantly softened.
She approached Sasame. "I… I completed your task."
"Good job," Sasame said, studying her.
The shift in demeanor was jarring.
But the more he thought about it, the more he liked it.
Gentle when she needed to be—feral when the situation called for it.
He suspected this might be tied to the Mangekyō Sharingan ability she'd soon awaken.
After all, the eyes reflected the heart.
"Izumi, clean up the battlefield," Sasame said, gesturing to the distant villagers. "And wipe their memories."
He didn't want the Sharingan's reappearance spreading yet.
"Yes!" Izumi and the other eight Uchiha immediately dispersed.
"Actually, I'm curious," Sasame wiped the blood from Mikoto's face. "If you awaken the Mangekyō, would you try to kill me?"
The first blade drawn upon reaching shore was often aimed at the one who helped you cross.
"Never!" Mikoto's pupils shrank as she vehemently shook her head.
"The Uchiha have always worshipped strength," Sasame pinched her cheek. "Let me show you the pinnacle of power."
Mikoto glanced up at him—then quickly averted her gaze.
Truthfully, she'd never considered killing Sasame before.
But now that he'd put the idea in her head…
If the opportunity arose, she might take it.
The past weeks had broken her too many times.
Sasame wasn't surprised.
Mikoto didn't love him—not yet.
This was the perfect chance to leave a lasting impression.
He turned to Amaru.
Still unconscious, her body was wrapped in bandages, reeking of medicine.
In the movie, she had no notable combat skills—just a plot device.
But since she'd studied under Shinnō, she likely had some medical ninjutsu talent.
She was a named character, after all.
After a moment's thought, Sasame decided to hand her over to Uzumaki Ena.
If her talent was usable, another medic would be helpful.
If not?
Well, she could always work.
With a flicker of the Flying Thunder God Technique, he appeared in the Land of Waves' daimyo residence.
After briefing Ena, he returned to the Sky Country.
[Your actions have altered Amaru's fate. Fate Points +49.]
[Your actions have altered Shinnō's fate. Fate Points +7.]
Not bad.
Shinnō would still contribute more later.
Sasame picked up a shuriken launcher.
It wasn't as mechanically refined as he'd expected—more of a chakra weapon.
Ordinary people still couldn't use it.
On second thought, that made sense.
The shinobi world lacked precision engineering and had no incentive to cater to non-shinobi.
If chakra was required, the launcher lost much of its appeal.
It reminded him of the Snow Country's chakra armor—far more useful for average shinobi.
Once Izumi and the others finished cleanup, Sasame led them toward the nearby ruins.
These ruins were actually the surface structures hiding the Sky Country fortress underground.
The shinobi world's technology was bizarrely lopsided.
Judging by the movie, the fortress was as massive as a tailed beast.
Logically, something that enormous would require insane resources and tech—beyond even the Five Great Nations.
Yet the Hidden Sky Village had built it.
No wonder Shinnō dreamed of crushing the Five Great Nations.
…Until he ran into Naruto.
Sasame realized most villains in this world had grand ambitions.
In a way, everyone wanted to unite the shinobi world.
But Hashirama, the one who'd come closest, had thrown it all away—opting for a fractured system instead.
No, not just fractured—he'd divided the world equally.
What a saint.
His successor, Naruto, seemed to be following the same path.
Maybe that was the influence of Asura's chakra.
Meanwhile, inside the Sky Country fortress—
Shinnō fled in a frenzy, only relaxing once he reached the control room.
He sank into the throne he'd built for himself.
The Zero-Tails was sealed beneath him, supplying endless dark chakra.
With this power, he feared no one.
But to activate the fortress, he still needed more.
A cruel glint flashed in his eyes.
Originally, he'd planned to use Amaru's villagers as fuel for dark chakra.
Now, he'd have to sacrifice some Sky shinobi instead.
Once Sasame and the others were dead, he could always replenish his forces later.
Hidden nearby, Shisui meticulously recorded Shinnō's actions.
Soon, Shinnō summoned twenty Sky shinobi and led them to the power chamber.
"Get inside," he ordered, opening the iron door.
"Lord Shinnō… what's the meaning of this?" The shinobi exchanged uneasy glances.
They all knew what the prison behind that door was for.
Feeding the dark chakra meant becoming fuel—and that meant death.
Shinnō didn't explain.
He simply kicked them inside.
Those who resisted were swiftly knocked out.
He'd chosen genin and chūnin—no match for him.
"Lord Shinnō! Save us!"
"No! Please!"
"You bastard!"
Shinnō reveled in their curses.
Dark chakra thrived on negativity—hatred, fear, despair.
"Yes! Hate me! Drown in darkness!" he cackled before leaving the chamber and returning to his throne.
More accurately, he stopped before a massive circular switch.
Kneeling, he channeled dark chakra into it.
The disk shimmered, displaying Sasame and the others' movements.
"Behold my masterpiece! The superweapon that will annihilate the Five Great Nations!"
His face twisted with venomous glee.
He could have used the Eight Gates alongside his forbidden techniques to defeat them.
But after the humiliation he'd suffered, he wanted a grander spectacle for their deaths.
Rising, Shinnō formed a series of hand seals.
Glowing runes spread across the disk.
"Awaken, Ankor Vattai!"
His roar shook the fortress.
Shisui's heart pounded.
This was far more terrifying than he'd expected.
A weapon to destroy the Five Great Nations?
But he hesitated only a moment before staying put.
Sasame's orders were absolute.
Shinnō threw his head back, howling.
His robes tore apart as his hair whipped upward from the chakra surge.
His skin rippled, muscles swelling—transforming him from a frail old man into a peak-condition warrior.
Shisui's eyes widened.
What kind of jutsu could reverse aging like that?!
But what came next stunned him even more.
The entire structure began to rise.
Outside, Sasame had a clearer view.
The ruins buried underground shook off layers of dirt, revealing their true form.
Within moments, the fortress ascended—hovering in the sky.
"What… is that?" Mikoto gasped.
"An aerial fortress. A superweapon built by the old Sky shinobi—capable of attacks rivaling a Tailed Beast Ball," Sasame explained, amused. "Impressive, isn't it?"
Mikoto's expression shifted.
To most shinobi, tailed beasts were the ultimate chakra entities.
And a Tailed Beast Ball surpassed even S-rank jutsu in destructive power.
No one could survive it.
"Should we… retreat?" Mikoto's instincts hadn't fully adapted yet.
Besides, shinobi weren't obligated to fight to the death.
Even missions could be abandoned if the risk was too great.
Against this fortress, Mikoto doubted even the Mangekyō Sharingan could prevail.
Ninjutsu and dōjutsu would be ineffective at this range.
Even if they could reach it, the fortress was too massive for their attacks to matter.
Izumi nodded in agreement, her expression grim.
The other Uchiha felt the same.
This was suicide.
None of them—except Shisui—had seen Sasame's Wood Release.
