"It's fine, just protect yourself."
Sasame instinctively reached out to pat Mikoto Uchiha's head but stopped when he remembered others were present.
Still, his goal had been achieved.
He had made Mikoto understand the terrifying power of this flying fortress.
Now, by defeating it himself, he would leave her utterly awestruck.
The shinobi world's culture was deeply rooted in Japan's past.
One of its most defining traits was worship of strength.
Those who surpassed them would earn either devout loyalty or reverence.
Mikoto Uchiha shared this mindset—which was why she obeyed so readily.
Any gratitude for saving her life had long since faded.
Sasame didn't believe she actually liked him—so he had to conquer her through sheer power.
The next moment, the flying fortress launched two squads of Sky ninja.
Soaring above Sasame and the others, they rained down explosives.
"Watch out!"
Izumi Uchiha immediately formed hand seals.
Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique!
Dozens of fireballs, resembling bursting balsam fruits, shot skyward.
A chain of explosions followed as the bombs detonated midair, crackling like fireworks.
Amid the black smoke, a storm of shuriken descended—
So dense it resembled rain, blanketing Sasame's group.
Sasame didn't move.
The ten Uchiha shinobi with him formed seals in unison, deflecting the barrage.
As the two sides exchanged attacks, the flying fortress revealed multiple cannons—
Launching shell after shell in a high arc.
"Fall back!"
The Sky ninja squads retreated swiftly.
The bombs detonated midair before hitting the ground.
Chakra-fueled flames erupted like colossal roses—
Nine in total.
The combined force shook the earth, splitting the ground apart.
Dust and ash billowed as trees and grass were reduced to cinders.
Control Room.
Shinnō watched through a circular monitor, his face twisting into a savage grin.
"Die! All of you! Just like the Five Great Nations will!"
His laughter cut off abruptly.
As the smoke cleared, what remained was a towering Thousand-Armed Kannon.
How tall?
The flying fortress looked like a sparrow in comparison.
"Fake! This is fake!"
Shinnō collapsed to the floor, trembling. "Genjutsu! It has to be genjutsu! The Uchiha specialize in illusions!"
But the ones most shaken were Mikoto and the others.
At this proximity, they felt insignificant—like ants gazing up at a god.
The Thousand-Armed Kannon pierced the clouds.
From their angle, they couldn't even see its full form.
"...This is a joke, right?"
Mikoto's voice was hollow, her heartbeat thunderous in her ears.
Is this a ninjutsu?
Something a human can actually use?
She had witnessed the Nine-Tails during its rampage—
A beast so mighty that all of Konoha had been powerless.
Only the Fourth Hokage and his wife's sacrifice had ended the nightmare.
But even the Nine-Tails' colossal form paled before this.
The Kannon could crush it with one hand.
And it had a thousand hands.
Sage Art: Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands!
Then Mikoto sensed another familiar power.
Mangekyō Sharingan.
Her body trembled.
How does Sasame have the Uchiha's supreme eyes?!
Before she could process it, her mind blanked again.
Orange light enveloped the Kannon, armoring it in a radiant shell.
Armored Susano'o!
What kind of power is this?!
Mikoto's legs pressed together instinctively, her eyes glazing with something like worship.
Such terrifying strength—and a man impossible to defy.
Sasame stood atop one of the Kannon's palms.
Even though he had summoned it himself, exhilaration surged through him.
Susano'o-clad Buddha!
He didn't know if Hashirama and Madara had ever combined their powers like this—
The original story never mentioned it.
Its full potential was a mystery.
But now, he had the perfect test subject.
The Kannon stretched out two hands and seized the flying fortress.
Control Room.
Shinnō jolted back to awareness, screaming:
"FIRE! FIRE EVERYTHING!"
The fortress's outer hull split open, revealing a massive cannon.
Dark chakra gathered—then erupted in a devastating blast, slamming into the Kannon.
The shockwave flattened the land, uprooting everything in a storm of debris.
Water Release: Water Wall!
Earth Release: Earth Wall!
Izumi and the others hastily erected barriers—
Only for them to shatter instantly.
Mikoto anchored herself with chakra, her Sharingan locked onto Sasame.
As the dust settled, the Kannon stood unscathed.
Her pupils contracted, a tingling heat spreading through her body.
How is this possible?!
Her cheeks flushed.
Compared to Sasame, Fugaku Uchiha was worthless.
Weak in power, weak in resolve.
Even at night—half an hour at most before he'd fall asleep.
But Sasame?
He could go all night without rest, still brimming with energy.
Mikoto bit her lip, her Sharingan quivering.
Control Room.
Shinnō was broken.
His trump card—a blast rivaling a Tailed Beast Bomb—had failed to scratch the enemy.
"Fake! All fake!"
He repeated it like a madman, refusing to believe reality.
But the Zero-Tails hadn't absorbed enough dark chakra for another shot.
Only one option remained.
Shinnō slammed a switch, revealing a hidden passage.
He leapt down without hesitation.
This was the sealing chamber—where the Zero-Tails resided.
Inscriptions covered the walls.
At the center lay the beast itself:
A serpentine body, a masked face, the character for "Zero" on its forehead.
Gritting his teeth, Shinnō merged with it.
He was no longer human.
A last resort—one he'd never have taken unless cornered.
Sasame waited a moment, then sighed.
Out of fuel already?
Just one chakra cannon and it's spent.
He leapt onto the fortress.
Shisui appeared beside him, eyes blazing with admiration.
The Uchiha bowed only to the strong.
And Sasame had just redefined what strength meant.
"Where's Shinnō?"
"In the sealing chamber. He fused with the Zero-Tails."
Shisui led the way.
Soon, they reached their destination.
"Pretty big, huh."
Sasame remarked casually.
The Zero-Tails wasn't on the Nine-Tails' level—but at over ten meters tall, it was still intimidating.
And ugly. Like a mud-colored snake.
Shisui's eye twitched.
Sure, but one of the Kannon's fingers is larger. You're just rubbing it in now.
"Damn you Uchiha!"
Shinnō's voice boomed.
The Zero-Tails writhed in sync with his rage.
"Your illusions won't fool me!"
He roared, deluding himself. "Today, I'll tear you apart!"
The Zero-Tails' body sprouted countless human hands, lashing toward them.
Shisui blinked.
Deja vu.
...Are you copying the Kannon?
Actually, no.
Sasame remembered this from the movie—it was the Zero-Tails' standard attack.
Pretty one-note.
"Don't let them touch you. It drains chakra."
Sasame warned offhandedly.
The Zero-Tails had a limit—but Shisui alone wouldn't reach it.
In the movie, it had overloaded only after absorbing Naruto and Sasuke's combined chakra.
"Who are you?! How do you know so much?!"
Shinnō couldn't hold back the question.
In all his years, he'd never encountered someone like Sasame.
Limitlessly powerful.
And with omniscient knowledge of the Zero-Tails and the fortress—like a god.
Shisui held back, opting for ninjutsu instead of close combat.
Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique!
Three fiery dragons spewed from his mouth, incinerating the approaching hands.
Sasame's approach was simpler.
He drew the Sword of Thunder and sliced through them effortlessly.
"DIE!"
Shinnō's fury peaked.
The Zero-Tails coiled its massive body around them, aiming to crush them alive.
Shisui repeated his technique—
But poured in more chakra.
A dragon nearly the Zero-Tails' size surged forward—
Only for a shield to materialize, blocking the flames.
Shisui's eyes flickered—his Mangekyō activating.
Though Fugaku's ocular abilities were abstract in battle, his own Kotoamatsukami had always been viable.
But—
"Don't waste your eyes."
Sasame shook his head.
Without the Eternal Mangekyō, Shisui's vision would degrade—even with Hashirama's cells mitigating it.
He formed seals.
Wood Release: Wood Dragon Technique!
A seed burst open, morphing into a gigantic wooden dragon that tangled with the Zero-Tails—
Pinning it down within seconds.
"Wood Release?!"
Shinnō's voice cracked with disbelief.
The Kannon had been obscured by the Susano'o—hard to recognize as Wood Release.
But this was unmistakable.
Shinnō's era wasn't far removed from Hashirama's.
He knew exactly how terrifying this was.
Like many, he mistook the power as inherent to Wood Release—not Hashirama himself.
(If it had been Yamato, he'd have scoffed.)
But Sasame had just reaffirmed its legend.
"What now?"
Shisui ignored Shinnō's impotent rage, awaiting orders.
"The Zero-Tails feeds on human darkness. Leave it here as fuel."
Sasame said flatly.
As he spoke, a figure emerged from the Zero-Tails' body—
Shinnō, now aged and emaciated, bolted for the exit.
Becoming fuel meant death—no way he'd comply.
But severing the fusion had cost him dearly.
His youthful appearance was gone, leaving a skeletal husk.
"Shisui, restrain him."
Sasame smirked—luring him out had been the plan.
He wasn't done with Shinnō yet.
His medical knowledge and forbidden techniques still had value.
(How to pass them to Tsunade, though?)
Shisui intercepted Shinnō instantly, silencing him with the Mangekyō's hypnosis.
Sasame turned to the immobilized Zero-Tails.
Without Shinnō, it lacked intelligence, lapsing into stupor.
Likely due to the chamber's seals.
Black chains slithered from the walls, dragging it back to the center.
Sealing jutsu really are something else.
Sasame pondered where to relocate the fortress.
Leaving it here was too risky—the Land of Fire would notice soon.
The ideal spot?
A remote, technologically advanced nation.
The Land of Snow.
Might as well deal with them too.
It would become the Akatsuki's hidden base.
(Once Sasame became Hokage, the Land of Fire could work—but too high-profile. The other nations would catch on.)
(And where's the fun in steamrolling them all at once?)
Land of Snow—a frigid, sparsely populated realm in the northwest.
Perpetual blizzards made it irrelevant to the Five Great Nations.
A perfect starting point.
Though it lacked a hidden village, its daimyo employed unique shinobi.
And its technology surpassed others—chakra armor, trains, airships, and heavy industry.
Reasons varied:
Its isolation spared it from wars.
Few shinobi meant reliance on tech.
Harsh climate forced innovation.
The late daimyo, Kazahana Sōsetsu, had pursued a "climate-changing machine" for his daughter.
The current daimyo, Kazahana Dotō, had murdered his brother for this "treasure"—
Unaware the activation key was with Sōsetsu's daughter, Kazahana Yukie (now the actress Fubuki Koyuki).
(Yes, this world has movies. Bizarre, but true.)
Koyuki was a superstar—like Japan's Satomi Ishihara.
Her princess roles? Basically typecasting.
Sasame dispersed the Kannon (its chakra drain was hefty) and regrouped with the others.
Their gazes had shifted—reverent, submissive.
Facing the Susano'o-clad Buddha, no shinobi could remain unaffected.
His eyes settled on Mikoto.
She lowered her head in submission.
Good.
She finally grasped true power.
The Mangekyō was just the beginning.
"Should we destroy the fortress?"
Shisui asked.
In his eyes, Sasame didn't need it.
And its size made transport impractical.
"I'll relocate it to the Land of Snow."
Sasame paused. "Take a team and secure it there."
"Are we taking over the Land of Snow?"
Shisui frowned. "Why not just conquer it directly?"
With Sasame's power, even the Land of Fire would fall. Why the roundabout approach?
"Just follow orders."
Sasame waved him off.
(Fate Points require finesse. Koyuki's arc needed to play out.)
Plus, the Land of Snow needed a competent ruler.
Letting Uchiha run a country? Disaster.
"If Dotō attacks, retaliate—but don't pursue."
Sasame added.
"Understood!"
Shisui and the others chorused.
Sasame teleported them aboard the fortress, then to the Land of Snow.
Only Mikoto remained—awaiting further instructions.
"Thoughts?"
Sasame smiled.
"...Incredible."
Mikoto's expression was complex.
She knew now—even with the Mangekyō, escape was impossible.
Her fate had been sealed.
In this moment, a realization struck her:
If I can't resist… I might as well surrender.
Her sole purpose was revenge on her unfilial son, Itachi.
Her own suffering? Irrelevant.
(Self-deception? Resignation? Desperation? All of the above.)
"Maybe I should let Sasuke see his mother's... new self."
Sasame's grin turned wicked.
"No!"
Mikoto begged instantly. "Anything but that."
"Ah, but I'm softhearted."
He beckoned her closer.
She obeyed without hesitation, letting him stroke her hair.
"How's the scenery here?"
Sasame mused. "Nice, but the explosions probably drew attention."
Mikoto blinked, confused.
Then—
He pinched her chin, studying her.
Today's kimono accentuated her elegant, matronly charm—
A stark contrast to Tsunade's boldness.
Understanding dawned.
Her lips parted slightly, voice submissive:
"May you return safely."
