Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: In the Courtroom

Darwin stood at the plaintiff's stand, his emotions running high. He pointed his finger directly at Yide, who was in the defendant's stand, and said in a loud and indignant voice, "Ladies and gentlemen, the man standing before us is a complete demon!

Although Elina had made mistakes, she had already paid the price.

But this demon still refuses to let her go! If Elina's death was deserved,

what about the innocent child in her womb? What crime did he commit to deserve such a fate!"

These words were like a raging fire, instantly igniting the anger in the audience's hearts.

They condemned Yide for being insane and cruel, actually harming a pregnant woman.

The courtroom was filled with angry shouts and accusations, as if to drown Yide in this endless condemnation.

"Silence!" Judge Neuvillette's cold shout was like a bolt from the blue, instantly silencing the entire opera house.

He turned his gaze to Yide in the defendant's stand and asked with a solemn and serious expression, "Baron Yide, do you have any rebuttal to the accusations of Attorney Darwin?"

Yide looked calm and said in a firm tone, "I firmly deny this accusation. Elina's death was entirely a frame-up by conspirators, and I have nothing to do with it."

As soon as he finished speaking, Darwin couldn't wait to speak.

His voice was full of sarcasm, "Yide, don't waste your breath. The evidence at the scene is conclusive, you are the ruthless murderer!"

"Conclusive evidence?" A playful smile appeared on Yide's face, "If that's the case, then let the show begin!"

Darwin was so angered by Yide's words that he felt like a ridiculed clown about to put on a clumsy performance in front of everyone.

He forcibly suppressed the anger in his heart and said in as calm a tone as possible, "That night, Yide drank with his old friends York and Byrd, and then he pretended to be drunk, asking them to send him back to the hotel, creating an alibi for himself.

However, in the early hours of the morning, he sneaked into Elina's room and cruelly murdered her.

He just didn't expect that Elina would leave his name behind as she died."

Speaking of this, Darwin turned to Neuvillette and respectfully requested, "Judge, please allow me to summon York and Byrd to the stand to testify."

Judge Neuvillette nodded expressionlessly and said, "Granted."

Immediately afterward, York and Byrd were summoned to the witness stand.

Under the public gaze, they appeared unusually nervous, especially when their eyes met Yide's, they quickly and guiltily looked away.

York's voice trembled noticeably, "Last night, we invited Yide to drink with us. However, he only drank less than half of his usual amount before passing out at the table.

At the time, we were very surprised as to why his alcohol tolerance had suddenly become so poor.

Looking back now, it turns out that he was creating an alibi to go and kill someone."

These words immediately caused an uproar among the audience, with boos rising from all around.

In the eyes of most people, Yide had undoubtedly become a murderer.

Old Dirk and the Lynette siblings, sitting in the front row, looked at Yide with worried faces, their hearts filled with unease. The current situation was extremely unfavorable for Yide.

At the same time, the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale seemed to be leaning towards Darwin's side.

However, Yide remained unfazed and asked casually, "Is there any other evidence?"

"You still have hope?" A sneer crossed Darwin's face, and he continued in an almost pitying tone, "In that case, let me completely shatter your pathetic fantasy.

The Special Security Team has already found key evidence in your room – the blood-stained longsword."

As the words fell, a Special Security Team member walked solemnly onto the stage, holding the longsword in his hands.

The mottled bloodstains on the longsword looked particularly shocking under everyone's gaze.

With the appearance of this longsword, the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale leaned towards Darwin's side once again.

All the audience firmly believed that Yide was the murderer.

Clouds of sorrow covered the faces of Old Dirk and the Lynette siblings.

The struggle and pain in their hearts were obvious. Although they tried their best to defend Yide, the evidence before them was like an insurmountable mountain, seemingly indicating that Yide could not escape this heavy crime.

Only Furina on the second floor became more and more excited, she knew that this case would usher in a shocking reversal!

Standing on the high platform, Neuvillette asked in a cold tone, "Baron Yide, do you have anything else to say in your defense?"

Yide smiled and said, "Of course. First of all, I have a solid alibi!"

Hearing this, a mocking smile appeared on Darwin's face, and he said contemptuously, "Yide, are you still daydreaming? Your alibi has already been exposed by us. You were just pretending to be drunk and didn't actually rest in the hotel room."

However, Yide shook his head gently and said calmly, "You're right, I was indeed pretending to be drunk, and I was indeed not in the hotel.

So, guess where I went that night?"

These words made Darwin's face instantly stiffen, and he had a very bad feeling in his heart.

Herbert, Tywin, and others also had stiff faces. They did not expect such a change to occur.

If Yide really had a very solid alibi, then they were likely to be the ones who would suffer!

Darwin forced himself to remain calm: "Yide, I need to remind you that if your family testifies, your alibi will not be credible."
