"Contestant Henry has no Pokemon remaining. The winner is Roy!"
The referee's voice echoed throughout the arena, officially announcing the match results.
Everyone snapped back to reality as if waking from a dream.
Before the battle, regarding the matchup between Henry and Roy, even those optimistic about Roy had predicted the two sides would be evenly matched at best.
The first half of the battle had confirmed those predictions.
Faced with Garchomp's relentless assault, Lucario could only circle and evade, unable to confront his opponent directly.
A professional-level Pokemon standing toe-to-toe with master-level opponents had already amazed many people with Lucario's spatial combat abilities, proving Roy truly deserved his reputation as a genius.
Up to that point, everything had proceeded as expected.
Everything changed with the unbelievable phenomenon of "Mega Evolution."
What exactly was that power?
Could all Pokemon use Mega Evolution?
Meanwhile.
On the other side of the world, Sebastian and Frances had joined a multinational operation to hunt down the "Nightmare God Darkrai."
This search team, composed of Elite-level trainers and above from various countries, represented humanity's greatest military force. Even legendary Pokemon would think twice before challenging such a gathering.
Darkrai was no exception.
However, Darkrai's abilities were too strange and unpredictable, and his personality was extremely cautious. He had already engaged the search team in several skirmishes without being captured.
His power to slip into invisible dreams was incredibly troublesome to counter.
If not for a Psychic Elite from the United States who had raised an exceptional Musharna capable of tracking nightmare traces, they would have lost Darkrai's trail days ago.
The search team was holding a strategy meeting to discuss methods for limiting Darkrai's nightmare abilities. The tactical minds present shared their theories and debated approaches, while the less cerebral members like Sebastian either zoned out or secretly checked their phones.
Sebastian remembered that today was the national tournament finals. He quietly pulled out his phone, switched it to silent mode, and began watching the competition.
At the exact moment Lucario underwent Mega Evolution, Sebastian shot up from his chair with a horrified expression, completely ignoring the disapproving stares from the rest of the search team.
But soon, they all displayed the same shocked reaction as Sebastian.
Because during the meeting, every Elite trainer began receiving urgent notifications through their communicators. Through various channels, they learned about the 'miracle' that had occurred on the other side of the earth.
Evolution beyond all known boundaries.
"The power of legend," Frances whispered, staring at the transformed Lucario with amazement written across his face.
For a moment, he completely forgot that it was his own son who had been defeated so decisively.
Frances and Sebastian exchanged glances, instantly understanding each other's thoughts. Under the envious eyes of the other champion-level Elites, they stood up together.
"Apologies, but we must withdraw from this operation immediately," Frances said formally.
"Yes, yes, we really have urgent business to attend to," Sebastian nodded repeatedly.
China's participation - like that of other nations helping the United States hunt Darkrai - had nothing to do with "humanitarian" concerns. It was purely about political exchanges and interest in capturing a Legendary Pokemon.
Historically, Legendary Pokemon maintained good relationships with each other. Forcibly capturing one would provoke the wrath of the others.
But Darkrai was different. He had poor relationships with the rest of the Legendary Pokemon and had committed "evil acts," giving humans legitimate justification to pursue him.
China's goal in participating was simply to get their share of the prize.
But now, the possibilities presented by Mega Evolution instantly made Frances and Sebastian abandon the difficult task of hunting Darkrai.
Their vision was exceptionally sharp, and they immediately realized that Mega Evolution wasn't ordinary "evolution." Among the potential it contained, even the power of Legendary Pokemon seemed insignificant by comparison.
No matter how shocked and confused the outside world remained, they would have to wait until the tournament's conclusion to get answers about this new phenomenon from Roy.
Henry had been eliminated.
After League University's first position, it was Porter's turn in the second position.
Position one, followed by position two - League University's tactical arrangement for today had been to use their trump card to crush the competition in one decisive sweep.
But now, it was their proud Dragon King Henry who had been crushed in a one-versus-three upset.
Porter was a handsome young man with refined features. Sweat beading on the back of his neck, he took a deep breath and threw his Pokeball.
A purple, wizard-like Pokemon emerged with three red gemstones embedded in its body.
Mismagius.
Like his father, Porter specialized in Ghost-type Pokemon.
This Mismagius had reached S3 level and mastered second-degree optimized energy, standing just one step away from master level.
The Pokemon Roy sent out was his differently-colored Metagross.
From an type advantage perspective, Mismagius's Ghost typing gave him an edge against the Psychic-type.
But Porter felt no relief at all. He stared intently at Metagross, terrified that the light of evolution might emanate from his opponent as well.
However, the things we fear most often have a way of coming to pass.
The moment battle commenced, Metagross's body suddenly blazed with brilliant light, displaying the incredible phenomenon of Mega Evolution once again.
His size expanded dramatically.
His four steel arms became even more massive and imposing.
His psychic presence grew increasingly overwhelming and oppressive.
Porter's expression froze completely.
How the hell was he supposed to fight this?
"Mystical Fire!"
His Mismagius incorporated Ghost energy into the supernatural flames he naturally commanded, releasing purple-red spiraling fire.
Watching the flames sweep toward him, Metagross, who was typically cautious and analytical, couldn't help but let out a contemptuous snort.
The reason was simple.
Whether judging by the energy intensity his mind sensed, the barely-warm temperature his body detected, or the analysis from his eight interconnected brains, everything told Metagross the same thing.
No matter how much he tried to overestimate his opponent, he could only reach one conclusion.
Utterly pathetic.
"Meteor Mash!"
All four fists of Mega Metagross launched forward simultaneously, steel energy compressed and tempered to incredible density coating them, giving the attack the power of an actual comet.
His body entered a weightless state.
Accompanied by a thunderous 'WHOOOM!', the punch smashed straight through the Fire Spin and struck Mismagius as he attempted to escape into the spirit world.
The three gems on Mismagius's body completely shattered under this terrifying impact, his form crumpling inward. His entire body flew backward as the comet-like fist created a massive windstorm, tearing up all the ground behind Mismagius and carving a huge ravine into the arena floor.
One-hit knockout!
While this result was clearly expected, the fact that his prized trump card couldn't even withstand a single attack still left Porter completely stunned.
Next, Porter sent out Chandelure and Spiritomb in succession. Despite having type advantages, both were crushed with single punches.
In the face of absolute power, all strategy, type matchups, and tactics proved utterly fragile.
