I blink. "Uh… what are you doing?"
He turns his head, antenna twitching a little. "Just checking my body function. Wristband told me to perform a movement check after first-time sleep."
I tilt my head. "Ohh, cool. So it talks to you? Like, in your head?"
"Yes." He taps the glowing band on his wrist. "This wristband is like a second heart and brain to my kind. Revolutionaries implanted it in us while we were still in the artificial womb."
I stare at him, mouth slightly open. "Wait, wait. Artificial womb? And it's connected to your heart and brain and nervous system?"
He nods, super casual, like he's saying he had cereal for breakfast.
