Selene's eyes snapped open. Her frost-blue gaze darted around the softly glowing space. The warm yellow light from the elemental stone flickered gently against the smooth ice walls of the igloo.
Then, her eyes landed on Alex—leaning silently against the wall, with Hati curled beside him.
She looked down at herself, wrapped snugly in the sleeping bag. A small, sleepy smile crept onto her face.
Quietly, she slipped out of the bag and padded over to Alex. Sitting down beside him, her shoulder brushed against his. She leaned back against the icy wall, exhaling softly.
The light shimmered across her face as her eyes slowly closed again.
As she drifted off to sleep, her body leaned closer—until her arms gently wrapped around Alex's, her cheek resting against his shoulder.
The trio—boy, girl, and wolf—huddled together in peaceful slumber within the glowing safety of the igloo.
