Alex didn't speak.The wind stirred. A breeze passed over him.
Selene's cry pierced the air, "Alex! Please! Don't do this! Just run! Save yourself!"
But Alex didn't move. Didn't flinch.Only one phrase left his mouth, through blood and breath:"Leave... her."
The assassin laughed again, unaware of the change in the air.
Swoosh!
Everything stopped.The assassin froze mid-laugh. The swirling snowflakes suspended in the air. Even the wind halted—like time itself bowed in fear.
A golden-eyed, ethereal dragoness descended from the skies, her wings folding behind her as she landed gracefully before the kneeling, blood-soaked Alex.
Her humanoid form radiated majesty and power, her golden eyes narrowing as they scanned Alex's battered body. Then, slowly, she turned her gaze toward the assassin—still holding a knife to Selene's throat.
Her pupils thinned into slits. A low, rumbling growl escaped her throat.
Her aura flared.
