As the sun rose over the horizon, the blizzard returned—sweeping across the snow desert like a white tide. The sky turned hazy, swallowing the morning light. Snow swept over the landscape in thick waves, erasing any trace of the sky above or the land below.
Inside the igloo, several white-scaled, worm-like corpses lay sprawled across the frozen floor. Crimson blood, now frozen solid, pooled beneath their segmented bellies. Their grotesque, flower-like mouths gaped open in death.
Alex and Selene stood amid the carnage, their chests heaving, breaths ragged and visible in the cold air. Sweat clung to their brows despite the freezing temperature, and their hair was dishevelled from both battle and exhaustion.
Alex looked over the bodies, his voice barely above a whisper."Let's… move… out."
Selene nodded silently. She stepped forward and placed her hands on the igloo wall. With a push of her magic, the thick ice shifted aside—opening a hole to the outside world.
