Chapter 120 - Chapter 120: The Spider

[1st POV | Wanda]

Seeing Peter Parker in person is certainly...quite the strange feeling. I remember him from my many memories of the Marvel universe. I remember him being a kind man, a good man. One of the purest and greatest heroes in the entire multiverse, which was saying a lot considering how massive that place is.

And I could tell just looking at him that this Peter Parker was just as incredible as that one, seemingly already in his twenties or so. Meaning he is no longer in his teenage years, and is probably already towards the time of Doctor Octopus taking over his mind.

I can't say for certain, but I have a feeling he is near the time Superior Spiderman is born, or perhaps even after. And if that is the case, then that means that Spiderverse will be occurring soon, with Secret Wars coming after that. But that was a bit strange as it doesn't sound like my counterpart has said the words that nearly wiped out an entire species yet...either way, Secret Wars was coming soon.

And that was an event I was very interested in partaking in.

God Emperor Doom was incredibly powerful, even by my standards. He was one of the few beings in the Marvel Multiverse that I am confident will be able to make me struggle. Perhaps even make me go all out.

There weren't many beings out there that could do that. Not after my most recent power ups.

But again, once I obtain the blood of a primordial from the Percy Jackson universe, be it from Athena or someone else. Once I get the blood of a primordial, I will become the concepts I have as my domains, and once that happens?

I'll ascend to an entirely new realm of power, one that not even the likes of Lucifer could possibly contend with.

I could see Raven out of the corner of my eye glancing at the man, she seemed to sense his odd power. The connection to the Web of Life and Destiny, in which he is its most important totem, the one that holds it all together. Even if he had no idea he was, at least, not yet.

And if the expression of growing fear was any indicator, it would seem his spider senses are going crazy right now. That sense is incredibly impressive if he can even sense the power that I possess.

Or at least a fraction of it.

"No need to be afraid, Peter Parker. I am not going to harm you" I said, smiling in order to calm him. I'd hate to drive away such an interesting customer like him, and it would suck to not get customers out of the rest of the spider folk.

"How do you know my name?" He asked me, fear riddled throughout his voice.

"I know a lot of things, Peter. Or have you not met the over version of me from your universe?" I asked, surprised that he didn't recognize me immediately. Although I suppose I do look a little different from the version that appeared in his world.

The man stared at me for a few moments, seemingly trying to place my face and see if he truly did know me. And it would seem that he soon understood as his eyes began to widen.

"Wanda? Wha-are you a version of her from another universe or something?" Peter asked, shaking off his fear as he stared into my eyes, glancing at Raven as he seemingly felt his senses flair around her too, just not nearly as powerfully as he had with me.

Fair. She is strong, but not on my level. Not yet at least.

"I am. You can think of me as an older, wiser, and far stronger version of your Wanda. One that likes to run a bookstore that connects to various universes, and even other multiverses. I thought Strange would have told you all of this?" I asked, beginning to think that perhaps the man had found this place on his own.

That was Parker luck right there. Both absolutely awful and shockingly good, the former was far far far more common than the latter.

"...So um...this is just a bookstore? I was honestly expecting to get jumped by a villain...again" Peter said, causing me to chuckle. The man was obviously used to the awful luck he has been afforded.

If I was him I wouldn't be making jokes about it. But I suppose when you live with it for so long, it's only natural you'd get used to it.

"It is. But I also sell all sorts of bakery goods like muffins, cookies, and other similar things" I responded with a smile, as the man looked a little interested in the food, before deciding to get onto what was probably more important in his mind.

"And uh, what sort of books do you sell?" Peter asked, glancing around as he saw just how many books I actually had on my shelves.

Over a thousand at this point, and it grew every single day. The shop seemingly got bigger with it, but nobody was even noticing thanks to me manipulating the perception of others, others that were normal at least.

"All sorts. It'd be harder to ask what types of books I don't sell" I responded with a smile, as the man glanced at all the different categories my books are put into.

"I've got books on all sciences, magics, martial arts, cooking, basically anything you can possibly think of. And I have books that are more advanced than anything you have seen" I explained, as the man began to look more and more interested in my books.

He could barely hide the excitement that began to shine in his eyes, which caused me to giggle slightly. I hadn't seen that many people who had come to my shop that were so excited about the books I sold, especially not the ones on science.

The Doctor was the other one that was particularly excited at the books I've got.

"And uh, how expensive are these books you're selling?"

"They're quite cheap, Peter. I know that you have problems financially due to putting so much of your time into your alter ego, so don't worry. Unless you go out of your way to pick out the truly rare books I have, then you should be able to easily afford any of my books" I responded, as most of my books ranged from five dollars to 25 dollars.

The most expensive book I had in my collection cost over 250,000 dollars, and was a book explaining the basics of Gallifreyan technology, which in the right hands could catapult someone's scientific knowledge ahead by literal centuries.

Lex had bought one of the five I have created, and I imagine he'll be taking advantage of that very soon. For what? I've got no idea. But I made sure to make it very clear that time travel was not something you want to mess with, when the man bought it from me a couple of weeks ago.

"Okay, thanks!" The man said as he immediately began to walk over to the science section, but not before I spoke out to him.

"Oh and Peter? I'd suggest you buy some martial arts books. Because no offense, but from what I have seen your martial arts skills could use some serious work, and I think those would help you. Especially if you wish to develop your spider senses to a higher level" I said, knowing that his spider senses could be trained.

At their peak they could allow him to literally see the future seconds ahead of being attacked, making it next to impossible to hit him or even hurt him.

The man nodded at my words, and turned to the martial arts section first because it is closer. I watched him silently as he began to browse my selection excitedly, while Raven watched with me.

"He's interesting" My girlfriend spoke, moving next to me.

"He is. He's a hero from the same universe as Doctor Strange. A great hero that goes through more suffering than most heroes I know" I responded, remembering what happened to him in the future. Like the absolutely awful storyline involving Paul and MJ.

I really hope that man does not exist in Peter's life, otherwise I might wipe him from existence. Because seriously, he is annoying and pointless.

Watching the man pick out his books with Raven at my side, a small hum escaped my words, and I whispered to myself.

"...Let's see what books he chooses"
