It took a full five days for Squad Ten to finally finish calculating Squad Eleven's debt.
It wasn't that Rosse was inefficient. Even Squad Ten turned out to be a group of total illiterates.
If Rosse hadn't stepped in himself, with their math skills, even if they kept working for another half month, they probably still wouldn't have gotten it right.
"I really don't get it. How do you miscalculate a 1.4 billion kan bill by leaving out a zero?", Rosse looked at the seated officers standing in a row with bowed heads and felt a headache coming on.
He took back what he said earlier.
The people in the Soul Reaper world seemed even less reliable than the World Government.
They were loyal, sure, but competence was nowhere near enough.
"Exactly. You can't even do basic math. We almost missed out on a whole hundred million," Rangiku Matsumoto stood behind Rosse, looking heartbroken and riding his authority like a fox borrowing a tiger's might, making Hitsugaya and the others grind their teeth.
If she hadn't been there barking orders, how could they have messed up the numbers?
"Alright, as long as we've got the accurate total. Bring our squad's portion and come with me to Squad Eleven," Rosse rubbed his temples and stood up from the captain's seat.
Debt collection was something he had plenty of enthusiasm for.
And this time, they were the ones in the right.
Perfect. Finally a chance to stand at the moral high ground and push someone else around.
"Yes!"
Everyone brightened up immediately. They grabbed the organized stack of fines and followed behind Rosse.
They had been bullied for ten whole years. Now it was finally their turn to strike back.
Since the top ten seats had basically stayed in the office the past few days and all patrols were handled by the lower seats, the entire squad already knew what was going on.
When the captain's office door opened in broad daylight and Rosse walked out with a group following him, the Squad Ten members who were hanging around the barracks quickly joined in from behind.
This was their chance to regain some pride. They absolutely couldn't miss it.
Leading a big and mighty crowd, Rosse swaggered straight to Squad Eleven's barracks.
———
Squad Eleven was much more spacious than Squad Ten, and their members were several times more numerous.
"What are you here for?"
The Squad Eleven guards at the gate tensed up the moment they saw Rosse arriving with a group.
Kenpachi Zaraki had been discharged from the Fourth Division hospital two days ago, and with Squad Ten's propaganda, everyone knew by now that Squad Ten had a terrifying new captain.
First day on the job, and he sent their captain flying into Fourth Division.
And now their captain had barely been back for two days when the guy showed up with a whole squad at the door.
"Grab two people and take the guards. Kino, find some people who look cooperative and have them gather all of Squad Eleven."
Rosse gave orders almost instantly, and Squad Ten sprang into action.
Fourth Seat Kino charged forward and disarmed the two regular guards in a flash.
Before, he was scared of Squad Eleven's strong fighters coming after him, so he never dared cross the line.
But now they had an invincible captain. What was there to fear?
Under Squad Ten's assault, Squad Eleven's gate lasted only two seconds before it was pushed down by Squad Ten members who had held grudges for years. Even the nearby wall several meters long collapsed with it.
"Move in."
Rosse snapped his fingers and walked in first, heading deeper into Squad Eleven.
From the front gate inward, Squad Eleven had their office area and their residential area.
Because of their nature, there were barely any people around during the day.
Wherever Squad Ten went, they swept through like a locust swarm, capturing every Squad Eleven member they saw and tying them up.
Rosse led the squad and charged straight through into the massive training grounds in the back.
This was the largest section of Squad Eleven, spanning several square kilometers, able to hold thousands of people training and fighting at once.
And as Rosse stepped in, most of Squad Eleven happened to be here, brawling or training in the heat of the moment.
"Hey, who are you, Rangiku? Squad Ten looking to get beaten up? You dare break in here and even attack our people?"
Right as they entered the rear training grounds, a bald man came over with a feminine-looking man beside him. The bald one looked extremely annoyed.
"Ikkaku, call out Captain Zaraki. We have official business."
Rangiku stood at Rosse's side with her chin slightly raised. Right now, Squad Eleven didn't seem like anything special to her.
Some Third Seat Madarame Ikkaku? Totally not worth mentioning.
"If you want to see the captain, then step over my body first!"
Ikkaku sensed trouble and drew his zanpakuto, frowning as he stared at Rosse in front.
To him, Squad Ten was nothing but a ragtag group.
Aside from Rosse, who was said to have defeated Captain Zaraki, he could take every single one of the others by himself.
He just didn't want to be captain, so unless it was dire, he'd never go full power.
"Toshiro."
Rosse called lightly, clearly with no intention of stopping his stride.
"I know. Relax, I'll finish it quickly," Hitsugaya looked thoroughly annoyed but still drew his zanpakuto.
Third seat versus third seat. He actually felt it was a bit like bullying, but at least the ranks lined up.
"Sit Upon the Frozen Heavens, Hyorinmaru!"
In an instant, Hitsugaya entered shikai. Ice dragons coiled around him, and the temperature around them dropped noticeably.
"You two, come together if you want."
Hitsugaya glanced at Fifth Seat Ayasegawa Yumichika beside Ikkaku, not bothering to hide his contempt.
"You brat, I can handle you alone! Extend, Hozukimaru!"
Ikkaku didn't think he needed help for someone like Hitsugaya. His zanpakuto instantly transformed into a long spear as he charged in.
"Everyone, please head inside."
Yumichika had no intention of fighting. He even gestured politely.
Squad Ten clearly came with hostility, and both the captain and vice captain were leading the charge. There was no way he was going to fight them head-on.
If his hairstyle got ruined, that would be worse than death.
"Lead the way."
Rosse said calmly and continued forward, not bothering to watch Hitsugaya's fight.
Even though Ikkaku had a bankai, even if he used full power, he wasn't beating Hitsugaya.
Not to mention, Ikkaku clearly wasn't intending to go all out.
The fight would probably end soon.
While Rosse led Squad Ten forward, Squad Eleven had already received news the moment the front gate fell.
By the time Rosse arrived, led by Yumichika, Zaraki Kenpachi was gathered with his entire squad.
Thousands stood together in a huge mass, all glaring sharply at Squad Ten.
In sheer numbers, Squad Eleven outnumbered Squad Ten by at least five times.
"Rosse! Did you come to fight me?"
Kenpachi, still wrapped in bandages, instantly roared with excitement the moment he saw Rosse. He raised his zanpakuto, ready to charge.
He didn't care what Rosse came for.
Fight first, talk later.
