As Claire was about to take the two kids into the van, Gilbert came out of the house holding Linda in his arms.
"Adam, Dean, Daddy will take you to school," Gilbert called out, then instructed the nanny driver, "You can pick them up this afternoon."
The driver had no choice but to drive the van back into the underground garage.
"Mummy, come on!" Adam and Dean climbed into Gilbert's Rolls-Royce, but Claire stood still, unmoving. Adam shouted anxiously when she didn't follow.
Claire had no desire to owe Gilbert any favors, and even less to get into his car. Just as she was about to give up and turn back, the two boys jumped out of the car and each grabbed one of her hands, dragging her inside.
Gilbert started the engine.
Adam and Dean were clearly in high spirits, being dropped off by both their parents was the happiest thing for them.
Linda blinked her big, bright eyes at Claire now and then, visibly wary.
"Hello, Linda," Claire smiled gently at her.
