To everyone's astonishment, the water, normally a potent counter to fire, was instantly vaporized by the sheer force of the near S-rank fireball, which punched straight through.
Hatosuke, who had been so eager to see Kai humiliated, felt his face burn with shame. He wished the earth would swallow him whole.
But the fireball, now slightly smaller but still carrying devastating power, continued its relentless advance, causing even Hatosuke's legs to tremble.
He desperately wanted to flee, but pride held him back.
"That kid's relentless," Kosuke Maruboshi exclaimed, clearly impressed. "But to wield the Great Fireball Technique with such power… a true Uchiha legend. Let old man Kosuke handle this."
He too was astonished, but saw that only he, with his mastery of Water Release, could possibly stop the oncoming fireball.
Before Kosuke could move, Kimimaro was already in action.
Facing the rapidly approaching fireball, now only a few dozen meters away, he slammed his hands into the ground.

The massive fireball was instantly torn apart. Another deafening explosion echoed as the fireball disintegrated.
Kimimaro calmly withdrew his hands, the bone spurs retracting into his body. The onlookers watched, mouths agape, as the bone spurs smoothly receded into his flesh.
Until now, they had dismissed Kimimaro, at only six or seven years old, as merely an orphan taken in by Kai.
They never imagined this seemingly unremarkable child was not only a survivor of the Kaguya clan, but possessed such terrifying mastery of Shikotsumyaku.
This display made even the adults feel insignificant.
"That kid's not the only monster; his entire crew is monstrous. A child wielding Shikotsumyaku with such skill… he's a prodigy, possibly the strongest in the Kaguya clan's history!" Kosuke Maruboshi said, his voice grave.
He'd heard rumors of Kai's exceptional strength and his terrifying S-rank rogue ninja subordinates.
But he never imagined a child could possess such power.
If this child continued to grow, he would be a force to be reckoned with in any village.
"Wind Release: Gale Palm!" Nagato's roar cut through the air.
He was now mere meters from Kai.

"A decent combined jutsu, but are you really underestimating me? Still not using the Rinnegan?" Kai's smile was chillingly calm.
He was eager to see the extent of Nagato's Rinnegan development.
Without the life-draining summoning of the Outer Path Demonic Statue, as seen in the original timeline, how far had Nagato truly progressed?
Facing the oncoming inferno, Kai's eyes blazed crimson.
Nine tomoe spun wildly within his pupils as immense power radiated from him.
A colossal, blood-red Susanoo, dozens of meters tall, materialized instantly.
The seemingly unstoppable inferno was effortlessly dispelled by a single sweep of the Susanoo's hand.
This casual display of power, this towering, ominous Susanoo, sent a wave of icy fear through the onlookers.
Uchiha Kai's title, the Blood-Red Asura, was perfectly justified by this Asura-like Susanoo.
Despite the overwhelming display of power, Nagato and Yahiko pressed their attack, using the brief moment to close the distance.
"Nagato!" Yahiko roared, his eyes blazing.
Nagato, too, was ready. His Rinnegan pulsed a faint red, his pupils constricting as he reached out.
"Almighty Push!"
Immense repulsive force emanated from Nagato, transforming him into a temporary black hole.
His fingers clenched, and Kai, despite the Susanoo's protection, was violently pulled from its defenses.
In the blink of an eye, the distance between them was closed.
Seeing Kai within striking distance, Yahiko swiftly produced two sealing tags and slammed them onto Kai.
They knew Kai's power was immeasurable. They needed a surprise attack, followed by immediate sealing, to restrain him.
With Kai immobilized, even his immense power would be useless, giving Nagato time to prepare other strategies.
Seeing Kai completely at their mercy, Nagato erupted into unrestrained laughter.
"Uchiha Kai, you see? This is the power of the Rinnegan!"
I forgot to mention, since awakening the Rinnegan, Yahiko and I have been strategizing to defeat you.
You're trapped. "Give up!"
