"The Rinnegan's intended opponent?"

Kosuke Maruboshi and the others exchanged shocked glances. They'd heard legends of the Rinnegan, but never imagined a clash between it and the Mangekyō Sharingan would be so spectacular, so unexpected.

They were desperate to see if Uchiha Kai, the new Uchiha legend, could turn the tide.

Kosuke, his expression shifting, glanced at Hatosuke, who was about to blurt out something reckless.

"Hatosuke, I advise you to keep quiet. I have a feeling he's holding back."

"Holding back?" Konan was startled.

In fact, everyone present felt a collective shift in tension.

They expected Kai to fall victim to this surprise attack. But Kosuke's assessment shattered their assumptions.

eeing Kai's unchanging expression, then his even brighter smile, sent a jolt through them.

"Is that all you've got?" Kai asked, his voice laced with amusement. "I think you'll be disappointed."

His words, seemingly casual, carried an unnerving weight.

Nagato's expression faltered, a hint of panic flashing across his face. He didn't hesitate. "Yahiko, we need to seal him now!"

"Got it!" Yahiko, equally agitated, lunged forward, his two sealing tags aimed at Kai.

But the moment they made contact, Kai's solid form rippled like a reflection on water. The tags, and Yahiko himself, passed straight through.

A stunned silence fell over the scene. Then, everyone's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Lightning Release: Righteous Axe, Sinking Thunder!"

As he phased through Yahiko, Kai's body crackled with lightning.

Without a wasted movement, he unleashed a devastating kick, sending both Yahiko and Nagato flying like cannonballs.

They flew dozens of meters, crashing into a three-meter-high rock face. The impact shattered the rock, sending spiderweb cracks across its surface, and left both of them spitting blood.

"Nagato, are you alright?!" Yahiko, regaining his footing, rushed to Nagato's side.

They looked battered, but this was a one-sided beating. Kai hadn't used his full power; he merely dislodged them, giving them a taste of his strength.

Feeling the turmoil within him, Nagato, wiping blood from his mouth, looked to Kai. Before he could speak, Kai's nine-tomoe Sharingan began to spin rapidly.

"It's over."

The simple words hung in the air. Kai reached out, and an immense, invisible pressure, like a celestial weight, descended upon Nagato and Yahiko.

BOOM!

They slammed into the ground, the impact echoing through the earth. The ground beneath them visibly sank under the immense pressure.

Nearby rocks shattered, spiderweb cracks spreading across their surfaces.

Everyone's faces were etched with disbelief.

"What… what was that?" Konan gasped, trying to rush to their aid, but Kosuke, his expression grim, stopped her.

Instead of attacking, Kosuke threw a kunai towards Yahiko and Nagato.

They expected a brutal assassination attempt.

But as the kunai neared, it was inexplicably drawn downwards by an unseen force, embedding itself in the ground.

Kosuke's eyes widened in disbelief, his gaze fixed on Kai.

"Unbelievable… such powerful dōjutsu… manipulating space, altering gravity… a single strike could have killed them."

A single strike? Everyone was stunned.

Nagato and Yahiko, pinned to the ground by the immense gravitational force, knew it was true. If Kai had wanted to kill them, they would have been dead in an instant.

The irony was palpable. Moments ago, they'd been brimming with confidence, boasting about the Rinnegan and targeting Kai as their hypothetical opponent.

Now, reality had slapped them hard across the face.

They wished the earth would swallow them whole.

"Kai, please spare Nagato and Yahiko," Konan pleaded, her voice filled with desperation.

Kai rolled his eyes, a weary sigh escaping his lips. "Don't worry, if I wanted them dead, they'd have been dead a thousand times over."

"I just wanted to teach them that there's no such thing as the strongest Rinnegan, only the weakest wielder. On the battlefield, never underestimate your opponent, or you won't even know how you died."

Nagato, his expression wavering between shame and understanding, finally spoke, his voice heavy with defeat.

"Kai, thank you for the lesson. We were overconfident."

"Haha, Nagato's right. We were overconfident. Please forgive us," Yahiko added, his usual boisterous self returning, the tension finally broken.

With Nagato admitting defeat, Yahiko no longer needed to maintain a façade of bravado.

Kai sighed, shaking his head. "The lesson wasn't quite thorough enough, but it'll do."

His nine-tomoe Sharingan faded, and the altered gravitational field dissipated.

Nagato and Yahiko, relieved, gasped for breath.

Konan rushed to their side, concern etched on her face.

Yahiko wiped the blood from his mouth.

"Konan, don't worry. We'll decline Hanzo's offer. You don't need to worry anymore."
