Zane's POV ~
I hesitated, torn between the thrill of discovery and the fear of being caught. My feet shifted forward instinctively toward the shadowed passage with curious eyes.
But then....
"Boo Boo! Where the fuck are you?!"
Cassian's voice thundered through the halls, sharp and impatient.
There was no doubt now they were already making their way toward the library.
With a sharp breath, I abandoned the shadowed doorway and rushed for the stairs, climbing quickly until I was back in the library. The ground sealed itself behind me, smooth and flawless, as though it had never opened at all.
I stood there, frozen for a moment, panting, my eyes glued to the spot. My heart hammered inside my chest so violently I thought it might burst through my ribs.
"I can always come back to check what's in there," I whispered under my breath, trying to steady my nerves. "It's dark, yes, but… maybe it's just like that empty room. Or maybe not. There's only one way to find out."
