Chapter 18 - Meeting Rall

After moping for over 2 minutes Arthur Stood up and walked to Selera's office.

Opening the door he peered inside to see her tampering with her surgery tools.

Arthur:"Miss Selera, I will be going out for a bit. I will be maybe back by the afternoon so you don't have to make breakfast for me."

Selera nodded her head before getting back to her work.

Seeing this he turned around and left, politely closing the door behind him.

Today he would be meeting Rall once more, after talking with Ramiel he had decided to meet Rall the next day.

Dalumen wasn't truly big enough of a village to be considered rivaling any city, perhaps some cities very small in number, but it wasn't to be neglected. It held a diameter of 5.9 kms. That is indeed quite large. Although it is common place for cities to flourish and have diameters of 10's and 1000's of kilometers, as a village it was big enough.

Selera's house is somewhere near the south west of Dalumen so it is reachable by the more damage prone civilians who check the farms in the far south, but she makes trips to several areas by herself due to the fact that the other areas also need health administration. Thankfully she has a Bike so the journey between locations doesn't take long.

He had asked for her bike today actually, as Rall's house was a good distance away towards the plateaus at Dalumen's East.

He walked out the house and as he was about to go to the back and get the bike Selera had come out the house and called him.

It turns out that He didn't need to take the bike and go to Rall's house on the east, as Rall had moved in to his daughter's house that was a bit near Selera's house.

Thanking her he took to walking to The house instead, he wanted a good walk to clear his head.

You know? I actually want to ask a lot of questions.

Me too.

Yesterday they had thought up a good number of questions and today after waking up they had filtered out or modified those questions to make them more efficient to ask.

The better the question, the better the answer after all.

Even as they walked to Rall's house they couldn't help but think about the possible answers they could be given, It wasn't so that they thought they were finding a lost secret, as it was quite probable that the higher-ups already mostly know about the situation in lagandra.

But it was a lost secret for them, it truly was. Besides the dukes, Royal crown family, the Emperor and very few selected individuals, there aren't any who could enter the third floor of The Tapestry of Knowledge.

Infact, Arthur was only allowed to enter the First floor and view selective parts of the second floor in his father's sight.

That didn't mean what he learned wasn't important, truth be told, he was able to even get access to those floors due to being the son of a Duke.

After pondering for a while Arthur had reached Rall's house.

Rall:"Oh! You finally came!"

Rall had immediately given Arthur a great hug, surprising him.

He really changed a lot huh? To think he was a gloomy person before.

Despite so he wasn't much shocked, from what he knew, people tended to change greatly even within the span of just 60 to 90 years in the B.M period.

Nope, not right now.

He just hugged Rall back to control himself, he was getting too excited about history again.

Seriously? Can't you see that a grandpa is giving you a warm hug? Is that all you can think about?

Arthur did not dignify that with a response as Rall released him from the hug.

Moving back a little Rall smiled at him greatly before speaking.

Rall:"You have done a great deal for us son. Ray alove was not just a friend to us-to me, he was family. Having something that is directly made by him makes me....heh."

He Chuckled a little.

Rall:"I guess it's a bitter-sweet momento."

Saying so he was about to bring Arthur into the house.

Rall:"You haven't met my daughter right? Her name is Elma she has a wonderful husband too. Unfortunately Serf isn't home today, she went out to get groceries."

He was smiling throughout the time, actually he acted more towards familiar Arthur than before.

Smiling to himself, Arthur declined Rall's offer with a hand raised.

Arthur:"Thank you for the invite Uncle Rall, but I am in a bit of a mood to walk? Is it okay for you?"

Arthur asked in a polite manner, although Rall seemed a bit disappointed he got back to being happy once more before nodding slightly.

Rall:"Of course, I was actually hoping for taking a walk today as well. Though I wish you could come when our walk is over?"

Arthur nodded.

Arthur:"Of course I will, Miss Ramiel talks about you guys a good amount so i would be a bit of a rude person if I didn't meet them."

He pointed towards a random direction towards the north and said.

Arthur:"Why don't we meet up with Serf and come home with her? I think that's okay right?"

Rall:"Yes! That's a wonderful idea."

After that they had begun walking towards the north where a shopping district was situated.

Man...it seems Rall has become very favorable towards me after I found the book. I mean, he is acting like an actual old man now you know?

Charming the father to get to the daughter?

.....Is my mind actually this disgusting?

Argus answered honestly.

Yes? Maybe? Actually it Is somewhat normal for a person to think like that subconsciously.

Wait are you taking it seriously? I guess you being spontaneous in actions is very suiting for what you are.

Heh.

Point proven.

Rall:"So."

Rall cut right to the chase and asked.

Rall:" What do you want to know?"

Arthur pondered on what he should ask first before saying it.

Arthur:" What was your life in Lagandra?"

Arthur found this to be a perfect question for getting several other answers, he didn't just ask a question pertaining to Rall's life in lagandra, no, in a way, by asking how he lived Arthur was asking most of his questions directly towards Rall's Life at once instead of Rall himself.

Hearing this, Rall smiled.

Rall:" Indeed, that is definitely a great question."

Looking up into the sky he reminicsed on his past.

Rall:"I heard about the story Ray wrote, you read it right?"

Arthur nodded his head in confirmation.

Rall looked amused for some reason as he started to pull something out his pocket.

As he was doing so he spoke in a clear tone, a solemn yet somewhat proud smile on his face.

Rall:"I read it too and...the monster subjugation campaign?"

Arthur tilted his head at the mention of it, Mark had spoken about it in the book, regarding how it was where Mercelle truly first debuted as the greatest healer.

Arthur:"Yes?"

The object was brought out and turned towards Arthur by Rall, it turned out to be a badge.

On the badge there was a very dynamic image carved onto some blue metal Arthur recognized as Lazuli P-567, a metal discovered nearly 1,270 years ago.

It was of ginormous vines spiraling like a bean stalk upwards while a beautiful chaotic array of the vines branched at the bottom of the spiral, many a types of flowers, both large and minisculey small sprouting on them as thorns protruded out from the vines scarcely yet entrancingly.

Underneath that carving was the Raging ocean clashing with the vines that spread about onto of it's surface.

Arthur found it very artistic.

Rall continued on after gaining Arthur's complete attention, though Argus seemed to have been freaking out inside.

Rall:"I was...Hm, it's quite embarrassing since I wasn't that high of a ranking member but..."

Turning the badge towards himself he spoke mournfully as if seeing pictures that had long been lost.

Rall:"I was a part of that campaign, and as you could have guessed I had also been helping the soldiers along side The Great Mercelle."

He spoke reverently of his country, the soldiers and The Great Mercelle.

Rall had played a part in 'The Great Mercelle's debut, shocking Arthur.
