Chapter 602: Why Are You So Happy About Screwing Over Your Dad?

"So basically, these guys targeted your newly recruited employee, and you all just got dragged into the mess along with him?"

Exusiai had no reason to hide anything from Steven. Besides, the cause of the incident wasn't exactly a secret. If these Siracusans wanted to establish themselves in Lungmen, they were bound to deal with some of the local powers sooner or later.

"That's basically it. But… we also uncovered something even more confidential. Something that maybe… I'm not sure if I should tell you."

The girl named Sora nodded, nervously fiddling with her fingers. Her hesitant expression made it obvious she was holding back something big, instantly piquing Steven's curiosity.

"Come on, spit it out. I'm Mostima's friend, you know. And a friend's problems are my problems. Even if I can't directly help you guys, giving a little off-field support like this isn't exactly difficult."

In his desperation to hear the juicy details, the Minecrafter shamelessly dragged out Mostima—the poor Sankta girl he'd already caused plenty of trouble for—as justification.

Though to be fair, he wasn't lying. When it came to friends, he usually did help whenever he could.

"Well… according to the information we got from the Siracusans we captured, the one planning everything behind the scenes might be… that man whose name everyone in Lungmen knows. The emperor of the underground world—the Rat King."

Bringing up Mostima had worked wonders.

After only a brief hesitation, Exusiai remembered how Steven had helped pull her out of the LGD ahead of time and finally decided to reveal the uncomfortable truth.

And if this information was real, then Penguin Logistics was about to face a nightmare.

More importantly, this was already a life-or-death crisis for the entire company—yet their boss had completely vanished. Every time they contacted him, he only said he was "handling something very important."

Seriously, what could possibly be more important than your company going under?!

"Mm. Oh. Ah… I see."

Steven froze for a moment.

The instant he heard that familiar title, everything clicked into place.

His expression immediately turned complicated. After letting out several humm, he slowly shifted his gaze toward Lin Yuhsia, who looked embarrassed beside him.

So this was what the Rat King meant by "giving the youngsters some training."

And here he was, barging straight into the middle of it.

Wasn't that… kind of bad?

Sure, Steven himself was technically young too, just a few thousand years or so, but considering his qualifications, stepping into this situation now felt a little too much like bullying the juniors. And knowing the Rat King, there was definitely a bigger plan behind all of this. If he interfered recklessly, it would honestly ruin the whole point.

After figuring that out, Steven scratched his cheek, hesitated for a moment, then decisively stood up.

"Ah, right. I just remembered—I think I left clothes hanging outside at home. Anyway, you girls carry on. Just pretend I was never here."

Since he'd already decided not to interfere in someone else's carefully planned entertainment, the smartest move was obviously to get out as fast as possible. Saving Exusiai and Sora alone probably wouldn't affect the overall flow of events anyway. The rest of the "plot" should still proceed normally.

"Huh?"

Obviously, nobody believed that excuse for even a second.

He'd literally just said, "If I can help, I will," and now suddenly he wanted them to pretend he'd never shown up?

Exusiai and Sora stared at each other, utterly speechless.

But Steven had zero intention of explaining himself. He grabbed Lin Yuhsia and fled the scene at top speed, leaving the two Penguin Logistics girls standing there in confusion.

"You're not worried they will mistake you for some coward who wets himself the moment he hears my father's name?"

Following behind Steven, Lin Yuhsia curled her lips into an amused smile.

The entire time, she had basically just been tagging along and enjoying the drama, but now—for the first time—she truly understood how entertaining this sort of thing could be.

"What? So according to you, I'm supposed to join those people and help beat up your dad? Aren't you being a little too unfilial here? What if I actually sent them a few tanks or something and blew your old man's skull clean off?"

Steven shot her an exasperated glare.

Anyone who could laugh this happily after hearing someone was planning to deal with her father really deserved the title of filial daughter of the year.

"If you really intended to go, I might actually panic a little. But fortunately, you don't." Lin Yuhsia shrugged casually. "Besides, the people from Penguin Logistics were nowhere near enough to handle my dad."

"The only one who might pose a bit of a threat is that Sankta caster who came from Rhodes Island with you. But even then, with only this much strength, they're not really dangerous."

Not even the slightest trace of worry could be seen on her face. Instead, she immediately shifted the topic with obvious curiosity.

"And what exactly is this 'tank' you mentioned? I've never even heard of something like that before. Is it another weapon like that gun you pulled out earlier?"

She blinked a few times.

Everything Steven casually revealed seemed more ridiculous than the last. And if he claimed it could literally blast her father's head off, then maybe such a terrifying thing actually existed.

As someone fully committed to squeezing every possible opportunity out of doing business with him, Lin Yuhsia absolutely couldn't let information about such a valuable weapon slip away.

"A tank, huh…" Steven rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "If you insist on calling it a firearm, then… well, I guess it is one."

"But it's bigger. Stronger. Cooler."

"The only problem is that one person usually can't operate it alone. You need a whole crew working together."

Since the little mouse was this curious, Steven naturally didn't mind enthusiastically bragging about one of the ultimate creations from the technology mod currently in his possession.

After all, tanks were one of mankind's greatest romances.

And even in a place like Terra, where superhumans ran around everywhere, Steven still didn't believe tanks would ever truly become obsolete.

And if they did fail, then that only meant one thing.

Either the explosive yield wasn't high enough, or the cannon simply wasn't big enough.
