"Oh my, what is this I'm seeing?" Prince Michael was the one who spoke.
King Henry was still furious and embarrassed. Furious at the fact that his son and daughter in law had disrespected him by eating first and embarrassed at the fact that king Edward had also seen him being disrespected by his daughter.
Catherine who was quietly eating was about to drop her cutlery when Lucas cold voice resonated through the room.
"Eat wife, don't wait for anyone. I want to take you out". He said making Catherine's heart skipped a beat.
Her cheeks slightly flushed as she dare not look at the angry faces.
"Catherine!" Her father, king Edward suddenly called out. He had seen what happened and was greatly pissed. He wants to curry more favor with the king of Eldrida and here his daughter was acting unfilial. How dare she? !
Catherine stopped her eating finally and turned to look at her father who was glaring coldly at her.
"Apologize to your father-in-law" he ordered sharply.
Clara had a sneer on her face. While Levi couldn't help but smirk evilly.
King Henry was pleased with his in law words.
Lucas furrowed his brows and stopped eating.
"I'm talking to––"
"I would have listened to you your majesty, but you already sold me to another kingdom. So you have no right to control me". Catherine cut him off coldly surprising everyone in the dinning including herself. She didn't expect to say that to her father, not in the face of the public.
Michael was stunned and couldn't help but snort,
"Oh really? Your faceless husband is giving your some confidence?" He wanted to provoke Lucas. He had been utterly quiet and he wanted to see if he will be provoked and kill someone.
Catherine knew what he was trying to do, so before Lucas could reply, she placed her hand on his lap to calm him.
Lucas was slightly taken aback by her actions and couldn't help but placed his hand on hers too as if assuring her that he wouldn't do anything irrational. It was as if even if they don't talk, they deeply understand each other.
"Whether my husband is giving me confidence or not shouldn't be your concern, but you should worry about your infidelity ". She said coldly exposing Her brother adultery behavior.
Alice was shocked to hear Catherine's words. Her heart skipped a beat on her words. She slowly looked at her husband as though she was in disbelief. But no emotions could be seen on her face.
Michael clenched his fists on hearing Catherine's words.
"How dare she say such things about him in the public?"
He wanted to look for a comeback that will hurt her pretty bad but nothing came. He just glared at her coldly and stood up.
"Father––"
"Apologies your majesty, I would have suggested you punish her highness for being unfilial to the crown Prince of Hilltop kingdom,but she is already married. So I will be leaving first". He said and bowed his head before turning to look at Alice.
"Lets go. I can't stay in a place where my sister will be disrespecting me because she is married to a daylight monster who will end up KILLING HER". He said coldly emphasizing on the 'killing her'part.
Lucas aura suddenly emitted chillingly causing goosebumps to spread on their bodies.
He tried to hold himself from attacking Michael because of his unfiltered words but because his wife was holding his hand to calm him down. He had to respect her wish and not lounge an attack on this fool that kept talking.
Alice stood up still trying to wrap her head on the words Catherine had said before bowing her head to courtesy to the king and Queens.
King Edward stood up with his wife and also left. The moment they left,
Levi spoke,
"Lady Catherine, you shouldn't have done that to your brother and his wife". He said with a sympathetic tone.
If Catherine had not seen how he kept antagonizing her husband, she would have shown respect for this man but her respect from him already dwindle before it even started growing so she said the only logical thing that came to her mind,
"You also shouldn't have accused my husband about the deaths that happened in the towns and villages. "
Her words surprised everyone including Lucas who hadn't expected her to defend him.
For some reason,his heart raced for this woman and the unknown feeling that was slowly growing in his heart for his wife was almost filling up to the brim.
Levi had a cold look on his face before saying sharply at her.
"Minister Cony will be coming this evening to expose your so called husband crimes and you know what that means?" He sneered sharply. How dare this measly human girl speak to him in that manner. Who the hell does she think she is.
Well, we shall wait for him. King Henry said standing up and left the dinning room. The moment he left,
Oliver also stood up to leave. After leaving, Clara eyes fell on his silhouette before she took stood up and left. Once they left, Catherine turned to look at her husband and whispered to his ear.
"Isn't strange that Lady Clara is always leaving when his highness leaves the room?"
Lucas nodded. It wasn't his business to interfere between two people who are finding it hard to express themselves.
Every one left the dinning not before glaring coldly at the couple.
Once they were gone, Lucas stood up and stretched his hand for her to grasp, which she did. He held her hand and slowly walked out of the dinning room.
"Let's take a stroll in the garden". He said with a meaningful gaze.
Catherine nodded meekly color rising on her cheeks. She was flushed in shyness.
His hand that was holding hers felt so strong and warm that she didn't want to let go.
